Quote: lampyboy "I'm sorry but it does sound patronising. How come we have been presented with a rare opportunity. the clubs worked bloody hard to achieve its position .
Cas have had a great season and have been great to watch but I find it amazing that all of a sudden they have become the measuring stick of success . Huddersfield fans adopted the same attitude a couple of seasons ago so would you say that Cas are probably where Hudds where 2 seasons ago.
Nothings been handed to Wakey on a plate and the sooner our own supporters recognise that fact the sooner we can come to terms with after everything that's gone on just how well the clubs done.
I sense we can expect more patronising comments followed by no offence.
We don't require any kind of sympathy votes .'"

Summed up perfectly for me.

Quote: Egg Banjo "I know several Cas fans who considered last season a success at the time, not least for having Solomona score the most amount of tries'"

It was a success considering that our captain and Roberts, two of the best try manufacturers hardly played any matches last year.
I went into last year confident of a top four spot if we held on to our first choice line up.
You know one or two cas fans that where happy about last year under the circumstances but overall it was disappointing not to get in the top four

Quote: Egg Banjo "To be fair to him, it is a rare opportunity, we've not exactly been banging on the door of the top 4 consistently for the past 10 years, it's been this season. He's also not denied that were improving both on and of the field, which we most certainly are. I would take it as a compliment to say we're a couple of years behind Cas, they spent 4-5 years building something special at their club, and we're just coming to the end of our 2nd year of rebuilding a whole club. Next season we will have more stability with the playing group and more idea how to play in both high scoring games and tight games which will be invaluable if we're to push on as a club'"

None of what you said has any relevance to what I posted.

At what point did I give Wakefield a sympathy vote?

Two years ago castleford came out of a full rebuild of the club to start becoming reasonably successful considering their (at best) mediocrity for the previous 10 years, both on and off the field.

Which part of this doesn't apply to the Wakefield of 2017?

The people who run the club have built a stable and competitive club.

If you think I'm saying that put of sympathy then so be it. I don't understand it, but I guess some folk will always put a negative spin on things.

Dave old boy it might help if you quote the right poster, egg banjo was in effect agreeing with what you said icon_surprised.gifops:

Yes, great season with some great results and rugby, but the fact remains and it is always at the back of my mind, but when the euphoria ends what are we going to do about this bloody ground situation???????? I suppose it'll be the main subject thread on this forum throughout the whole closed season. I don't want to sound an old misery, but everything we have built in the last couple of seasons could come crashing down around us.

This season is definitely one to celebrate for Trinity. From the moment Chris Chester came in there has been an uplift in fortunes. The quality and style of play has been great to see.
Getting things right at the business end takes a certain hard self focussed mentality of self belief. Castleford are not their yet, we have to wait and see if they are by what they do in their semi final. They have yet to prove themselves.

Having the self belief to win the big one off games is the acid test for all teams.
But Trinity should celebrate because you have come the farthest, had the bigger financial issues and even continuing as a club has been called into question.
So to see the emergence of a real team who are in every game is fantastic. Your journey has started , now you've got to build on that success and take a club with a great history back to the top table. This season is definitely one to celebrate.

Think we've certainly missed a chance this year but I'll be there to celebrate our progress and hopefully one way or the other get one over on Wigan. As it stands this morning it's not over yet. We need snookers but it's still possible.

Yes, a long shot but stranger things have happened than clubs with nothing to play for (nothing to lose) beating those who have. Salford can throw caution to the wind. Castleford can blood some youth perhaps and pick players trying to stake a claim for a GF place...you never know and Lord knows we deserve a break (no snooker pun intended).
As for negativity about our season. I guess some folk can't handle disappointment well and they lose sight of the progress we have made and the fantastic RL we have seen from our team at times. Points galore, pace to burn, players who spill their guts for us and interact with the fans superbly; I am more than happy, in fact I am delighted with our season. To focus too much on the errors we have made and chances missed is churlish. We lost by 4 pts or less on a huge number of occasions so that cannot be all bad luck (though it often was). No point crying over spilt milk. Get the videos out and look at why we lost so many games so narrowly, and try to put it right and make the signings that might stop that, I say. To do that we need to get those season tickets bought. I have read we were close to glory and will we ever get the chance again? Doom and gloom!!! If we keep these players and add a couple of key signings...WHY NOT!!??

So next Saturday COULD be our last match of the season and COULD be our last match at BV (announcement this week, I am led to believe ??), so we ALL need to get down and show our true appreciation to the boys who have provided us with the best Trinity season in probably two generations.
I was supposed to be working but have managed to get the day off, so will be there with the rest of the family icon_biggrin.gif and would urge anyone who is contemplating staying at home or going to the pub to watch it on TV, to get down to BV and show your true appreciation !!

Wigan currently 0-20 down to Cas. Saturday might just mean a bit more than thanking the team for a great season at this rate. I can't see Salford beating Saints but stranger things have happened.

Its a shame that Salford play Saints on Thursday I would have preferred for all to kick off at the same time. Anyway its an opportunity to go out with a bang and a Win against a Wigan team that never lack effort. Who knows it could be a Salford win and everything to play for.

Said we needed snookers and snooker number one came in yesterday. not nice to say it but think Wigan also lost a key player yesterday so all on the Doctors mob on Thursday night now.

I'll be there to celebrate on Saturday - the boys deserve it icon_biggrin.gifANCE: icon_biggrin.gifANCE: icon_biggrin.gifANCE:

Burgess out for season. I wonder if Lockers will be back? Apparently they've lost all 7 games that he's missed this season.
