| Best refereeing performance from Child I have seen.
He's been notoriously bad for us in the past but he was pretty much spot on with everything last night.
Beaten fairly and squarely by the better side.

| Quote: bren2k "Embarrassed for you...
Did James Child swap MCB and Tupou around? Did Bentham tell our players to give away silly penalties late in the tackle count? Did any official instruct Huby to drop the ball, or Jowitt to kick out on the full or BJB to go for an intercept when a tackle would have been better, or Finn to have an off night with the boot?!
If anything, I thought Child was lenient in the ruck for both teams - and he let a couple of flare-ups play themselves out without resorting to penalties; all in all, a good performance from all the officials, and a result that was decided by the two teams involved, one of whom was significantly better than the other.'"
Did he penalise Castleford for the blatant swinging arm, did he even consider a sin bin for a shoulder charge off the ball, did he notice that on every 5th tackle play cas stood a prop in front of Gayle who would move to obstruct anyone trying to pressure the kick. Don't be embarrassed for me, I was there last night, Cas best team all year, deserved their win and the trophy, but the referee had an undue influence on the game which led to the high score line.

| Got to agree that the officials had no bearing on the result at all.
Child even sent up the McMeeken try as a "No Try" and Bentham had about 4 looks when it was clearly a try from the first image.

| I thought Childs had a good game and I'm struggling to think of any incident where I thought he had made a ridiculous decision. We were beaten by ourselves and the better team. You cannot afford to make the mistakes we made against the best team in the League and hope to win.
Now if only BJB had intercepted that pass....

| Officials were fine last night. Let a bit of handbags go which added to the game IMO

| Do any shoulder charges after the ball is gone get punished with a yellow? The flip side is he did well to spot it after the ball had gone. Not sure which blatant swinging arm you are alluding to but, for that reason I cannot comment.
The high score line was about 80% due to the ludicrous decision to put MCB against Webster. The other 20% was cas being able to exploit that absolutely glaring weakness in an otherwise fairly decent Wakefield side on the night.
Thought child was barely noticeable last night. Which is what we all want from any referee.
Personally I'd much rather he let little things go both ways than being overly finicky.
Often I feel that referees make decisions that they don't need to make, thus making their already difficult job harder.
For example, a little bit of handbags and some referees are dying to find out who started it, so they can penalise a team/player. For me, things like that don't need penalising. It's irrelevant to the game. Just take control of the situation, nip it in the bud, warn both captains of their teams conduct and get on with the bloody game.
Couple of pushes and shoves last night but it's a big boys sport, and child did well to just let it play out and not turn it into a drama.

| I'd like to know how many people who cast a judgement upon me for daring to have an opinion actually attended the game?

Don't see that matters. You tend to get a better opportunity to review things watching it back on sky in any event. There's been many times I have come away from the game believing we have been hard done to on some key calls only to watch it back on sky and realise that wasn't the case.
If you think they were bad tell us why with some examples, especially as if I recall correctly Bentham only had one decision to make as VR and it was a clear try despite Child's on field decision being "no try"

I went. I don't question your right to an opinion, I just don't agree with it. ie. that's my opinion.

| I couldn't get to the game, which must be a first, but got to watch it on TV. Child's wasn't to blame for the defeat, as much as I would like to, but what I will question is the difference between teams of who's interfering in the tackle and whose moving off the mark into the markers, something that is getting far too common in all games especially on Thursday night.

| We've won roughly 2 out of 33 games that he's officiated. I'd actually love to know if that stat is true or not but I don't have time to work it out.

85% of stats are made up, the remaining 37% are inaccurate

But that could be down to how we played in those games not how they were reffed. If we got beat 40+ to 12 as has been quite often the case in recent seasons prior to this one, you can't put such defeats down to the officials.
The officials will make mistakes but very rarely will they be the defining factor in the outcome of a game wakey play in
