But I can't see how it benefits the club, pushing away and alienating the current 16-22 crop of fans (and the future of our great club)some of who may never be back. It's shame the supporters trust weren't consulted on this or the 60-65 season ticket price hike. But who are the we to question what's happening at our club?
Queue the "why be negative comments"'"
I'd suggest they are all valid questions.

| Some sporting clubs even give discount to forces personel.
I'd be ok with that. Clearly we haven't got bases near us so it wouldn't impact us like some areas but it's good PR

| What about forces veterans? I'd go for that as long as 22 years service is classed as veteran lol

Thing is its all about getting people in the ground. If this brings in 100 people over a season, initiatives like this are worth it(using free platform to advertise with club official social media accounts). I would even go as far as giving all the services (fire,Nhs and police) discount even if it a just a few quid for selected games. But it's no good trying to get new fans in the ground when you can't even keep your old ones by removing student season tickets for no apparent reason. You have to get people hooked and you can't do that without them being inside the ground.
While I'm thankful for the club's stability, there is no active selling, no gimmicks and no intent to sell the club's image to potential customers. They have Facebook and Twitter, but when was the last time they put anything exciting or innovative on either?

Wakefield College has over 10,000 students just getting 5% of these through the turnstiles for 5 games per season at £12 per ticket would equate to 500 x £60 = £30,000 additional revenue per season if my maths is right.... Short sighted in my opinion as it also doesn't take into account sixth form colleges in the area. These are also fans for the future support of the club.

That doesn't include merchandise and refreshments either. Big chunk of money. Potentially massive if you gain some life long fans out them.

| OK as at this moment in time the club will recieve no income from me this year for reasons given earlier. At this late stage in the closed season i will make a proposal to the club based on what i can afford. I will pay £100 for my concession season ticket and £100 pound for my grandsons (studant) season ticket.

What are your "age related" circumstances that justifies a £100 ticket then?

| Its just that last year i paid i think £70 for my concession and £70 for my grandsons junior ticket, this year he would have been a studant ticket but that has been scrapped so he goes straight up to an adult £250 plust whatever the increase on my concession. All im saying is if the club whant us to attend this coming season the £200 total is what i can afford and are willing to pay, plus dont forget on match days i do buy the odd drink and chips etc, its up to them but i get the impression they arnt bothered about peoples circumstances the price is what it is take it or leave it.

It's a shocking decision. Traditionally students are at the age where they'll either stick with the club and be long term fans or they'll discover other things to do at the weekend and drift away. Offering no student discount on season tickets/entry is one way to make sure it's the latter. I asked a student I know if he'd got his season ticket for this season, his reply was ''no, can't afford it this year''. The student market is a good market to tap into but with no student discount we've no chance.

| I am in the slot between 60 and 65 and have no problem with paying the full amount.
Never had 'owt for nowt' in my life including being a student in the late 60's and early 70's.
Before anyone mentions grants in those days.......didn't get one....... my parents had to 'cough up' the lot!

This is exactly it. Once the habit is broken at that age many will never come back, they will have found other pass times and interests. It runs the risk of creating a lost generation of fans whilst at the same time at the other end of the generation gap alienating a set of older ones who who may now be retired and for the last 2 or 3 years have been paying concession prices. Once again if they now cannot afford to go then the habit is broken and that could well be them done for good. The club has come a long way in the last 18 months financially but i think they have got this one badly wrong. For me if you are a student then you should get the concessionary rate. If the club is adamant that the oap rate should start at 65 then that should be for new purchasers and they should have offered existing concessionary pass holders the chance to renew for a set time at a lower rate.

| I understand the moans about lack of special Student prices but, as an employed over 60 myself, I can't see the justification for any special treatment for non-pensioners. You might as well offer concesionary tickets for over 50's! The excuse that "it used to be cheap" really isn't valid as the truth is they were too cheap.

Maybe the folk asking the questions should try attending the rlfans forumrl on 4th February and get the opportunity to ask those questions of Michael Carter or someone else who may actually be able to answer it.
Let's face it, none of us on here know the reasons. Ask the question and then see if you're satisfied with the answer.
