| Rant continuing. Theres plenty of places withing the Wakey area Kinsley Fitzwilliam Hemsworth South Kirkby South Elmsall that could do with a bit more support from a local pro team, the red white and blue pro team.

Very true I think the Wildcats are busy setting up and rebuilding connections with local clubs, as part of the first stage but the above area's plus Barnsley should deffo be looked into...

| This particular Barnsley Wildcat has been going to games since 1979. I wouldn't say rugby league is massive in the area but there's certainly some untapped potential. A lot of football fans in the town are unhappy with the £28 admission price at Oakwell (me included) and gates are falling. There could be some mileage in an advertising push in the town, especially in the big new Advanced Learning Centre's where they play rugby league. The headmaster of Barnsley Academy at Kendray where my son goes is a big rugby league fan.

It sure is during the 60s supporters buses ran from Barnsley and the match reports were in the barnsley chronicle
A lot of people watch RL in Barnsley it has huge potential a game on the road at Oakwell would not go a miss the fan base is here to be tapped'"
There was certainly a supporters club in Havercroft/Ryhill that also took in Royston in the 60's.
What the club need to do IMO is help set up supporters groups wherever they are needed. Give them help, advice and tools required and let them do it for the club.
Supporters buses and tickets sold locally from places like Upton, Hemsworth, Royston and South Emsal etc could really pay off if done right. Then spread into Barnsley proper. I reckon there may be only a 1000 potential extra fans in all that lot - but that with a bit of success could be enough to push us near the magic 5 figure mark.
Lets hope it happens.

| Maybe it could be done in conjunction with the travel club.
As well as sorting out away games travel from Wakefield, maybe (if sufficient numbers were involved) transport from further afield could be arranged and travel to home games.

@Wakeycityloyal hi John. We have seen there is interest there, but our resources are pushed to limits with Wakefield, so don't really know

| Sound like we are putting every thing into reconnecting roots with the city and local teams to begin with, then branching out in next year or so, I hope our fans from other areas do not take it the wrong way, and see what the club it trying to achive, my message to you is this if I lived in Barnsley I would contact all Wildcats fans that live in The Barnsley area, start up a branch say meet up once a month/ 2 months /3 months and push and promote the wildcats..
Any Barnsley Wildcats fancy a challenge..??

A little off topic here but a few years since we approached Ted Richardson about starting a Normanton branch of the supporters club but he wouldn't allow it, may be different now.

I think the Normanton Wildcats branch are doing well to this day aka Woodhouse Hill W.M.C. (Linnet)
Long live the WF6 Wildcats..
These are great flag ships a long with the groups at the Graziers pub (the real Wildcats supports club) and Waterloo on Westgate..
These are fans that are taking the bit between their teeth and doing it alone, while the club get on with finding sponsors and building the club on and off the field, and thank you to them guys/girls..
This is what I like to see spreading across Wakefield and five Towns and further a field...................... (Barnsley/Fitzy)
and so on, If these groups spring up and get stronger, we maybe able to say to the Wildcats look we have a strong following in this area and it would be a good idea to push ticket sales here or help a amature club in that area..
This would go down better with the wildcats if they had a group to work with and a spokes person..??
What do fans think not just Barnsley Wildcats I would like the opinion of all our fans, even them who are already in some sort of group..

Just getting fans to share travel in the Barnsley area is a start, if you get more to join you and maybe share a mini bus sooner or later you will get a fan that wants to do more, let them take the lead and people that want to help can, but if you just want to turn up at a meeting point and have a beer and watch match thats fine too, each fan will fit in in his or her own way... but its a start..
All I can say is try it and see, you needs to all read from same sheet so you all need to join RLFANS of the Wildcats fan page, so you can pass info round..

| Maybe the supporters based in that area could contact the Supporters Trust - if there are enough of them, the club might be prepared to do something in terms of travel for next season?
