| I kind of agree with both points on this.
I agree that Smith will be a good centre for us if he can get to full fitness. And tuned in from more game time.
I also think he is a great full back and that it is probably his best position.
However, I think it is easier to find a decent fullback than it is to find a decent centre so I'd rather keep him in the centres and have Mathers or Cockayne at FB.

| Id like 2 props if Kyle stays or not along with another centre/winger. It will be interesting to see who leaves as im sure there are a couple who RA would like off his books to give himself more money to play with.
Am i right in thinking that the plan was to increase our spending next year with a view to spending upto the full cap by the final year of the franchise? Were any figures mentioned? Another 100 to 200k on top of this years squad should really push us into serious contention for the 8.

| Looking at the squad at the moment and who can play where
Fullback - Smith, if they sign Mathers,Sykes who has done a very good job at SO
Wing - Fox,Cockayne,Mellars
Centre - Collis,Smith,Mellars
Backs - Sykes,Smith wood
Props - Raleigh,James,Wilkes,Johnson,Amor if he stays
Hooker - Aiton,Ellis,Wood
Second Row - Kirmond,Lauititi,Mariano,Washbrook,Aiton,Southern
Loose - Washbrook,Aiton
So who do we need and where they going to play for me Sykes has been good enough for us to sign him up and like Lee Smith can cover a few positions if needed though would want him at stand off.

He is ask any Rhino fan and they say his best position was at centre. Vastman clearly doesn't watch the game seen as Smith has made most of his career appearences at Centre ! we sign mathers then Smith is a very good centre. He had a very good game against CAS

I know he can play Centre, I just don't think he was brought in as a Centre. I'm suggesting he was brought in to replace Mathers when he went through the horror spell a month back. As it happens Mathers recovered and Mellors was injured.
However long term and it's only an opinion I think Smith is penciled in as F/B - but hey.
Am I obsessed with NGBC, probably - but then if you post as randomly as he does you're bound to come up on peoples radar - don't tell me he doesn't love it, he post in a way bound to get maximum reaction and you know I'm right.

| Quote: vastman "We've done that with Smith. Mathers is a tryer but to unreliable - he's lost us a few to many games for me. I'd live with him stopping but wouldn't be sad to see him go - unless he maintains his form for a few more games.
For me we probably need one more prop or a tackling machine S/R?
I also think we need another player with a kicking game, if Smith is out we are in trouble and Smith is not the greatest I've seen.
It's vital that whoever comes in fits in - that's the key for me.
For me personally and from what I have seen coming through the reserves, a tackling machine second row we already have with young Slater. I would like to see him given a shot, each time I have seen the reserves this lad has a great defensive game with the ability to control the ruck.

| Don't need to go mad IMO we have the makings of a competitive team. If we sign mathers and Sykes permanently and keep amor, I'd go for a big nasty prop, and possibly a 2nd rower. For me wouldn't be too disappointed if southern and mellors went. I also would like to see the likes of walshaw, annekin and Grayson given some 1st team exposure next year.

| It's ok saying get rid, but it's not us dipping into our pocket paying off 2 years of 2 contracts. I doubt this will happen. These guys signed to play, injuries and being played out of position have hindered how well we perceive them. The depth in the positions of experienced people will be vital to push the club on to the next step.

Fair point, however I'm sure there will be some turnover of playing staff. It's unrealistic to assume the squad will keep growing ever larger. Maybe some may leave by mutual consent in order to get more game time.

| I'd expect a few fringe players to leave and those on low full time contracts who RA feels do not bring enough to the party. I'd think 6/8 of the First team squad to leave, with dome of then having not played this season.

I agree and Agar went public a few months ago stating he wanted big additions to the front row and he wasn't talking about our hooker. Even if Amor stays we need two big props maybe O'Meley (if no concerns about his fitness) from Hull and Kopchak from Bradford if they're on their way to the championship?
Not enough genuine competition for the front row although I think Wilkes, Raleigh & Amor have overall done good jobs. I think Johnson has been up & down and James doesn't seem to have been good enough to get into the 17.
