If he does move on, the Celtic Crusaders could do worse then to snap him up for a year. He will certainly guide them around the park.

| Newton - For me it would be governed by his attitude and desire. He knows that he has ability and is a former international, if his attitude is that he has nothing to prove and will be a good signing for any SL team then we would be getting an adequate player. If he found the motivation at this stage of his career to look at his fitness levels - lose 7-10lb and look towards international recall then he would be a great signing. I know what people say about cheap shots and i dont like that, what i do like is a very aggressive attitude that views every game as a personal battle and wants to impose themselves physicaly on the opposition.

| Martin could be on way out......
Not sure about Newton though, always seems a bit of a thug but decent player on his day. Not sure if he is much better than we already have and I guess he would be on much more money.

Would be happy with that......no doubt the Drew is class, but it might be one year to many, similar with Martin, think he has been v.good this year, but age is not on his side. Rooney needs a new challenge and for what we are getting is expensive.
With the above three gone it will free up loads of cap space for improved contracts for the likes of Blaymire, Atkins, Brough etc and leave enough for some quality replacements.....maybe Tronc, Newton etc.

| If true, superb news. Newton is the player you hate unless he is one of ours, and I love him now. I think he is just what we want, a top quality player, over the hill or near there is no issue to me, and if we get that big bu66er Tronc then all the better too.

sounds about right to me that.
personally think drew might do another year ok and cant see latu being here next. when is obst's contract up?
would like to think that should we cut our first team hookers to 2 next year then davey could be relied upon to fill in for injuries.

| Is there any chance that Obst will revert to stand off for next season then?

If so then I think St. Chunters’ proposal is a good one. Dangle the carrot of first team action in front of the kid. Money wise Trinity are unable to compete with Hull KR so other incentives need to be offered.

| I'd rather we not sign Newton, i think we can do better with the money from Drew's contract. However if he signs then i'll support him like all the rest

Either he doesn't want to play for us, which I don't think is evident from his performances, or someone else has offered more, which is a big call for someone who must be coming towards the end of their career and at risk of injuries.
Do you think he wants to go back home?'"
going to cas mate along with martin

Just post rumours on forums:10084.jpg |

| Drew, Martin and Rooney to Cas?
Be very sad to see one of them go, but then again his last club let him go two years ago thinking they'd seen the best from him. Very hard to replace, but we were going to have to anyway sooner or later.
One has done well here and adds a bit of brains and guile, but he's not been free of injuries and is never going to get quicker. Replacable, and in an area we have cover, although we'd miss his ability to fill in at 6.
The last impressed at times, but alas overall not enough. he still may have some very good rugby in him, but we'd be doing very well to get it out of him. Replacable, and for less I'd guess. We also have talent in this area coming through, although when it is ready is a different matter.
Overall I think we wouldn't do badly out of it if the money is spent wisely. Plus it is an opportunity to replace aging & overseas with young and British (I'm being wildy optimistic here, but indulge me).
If true, Cas are paying for experience, but taking a risk on what I guess is bigger pay and age.
Evans coming back would be odd though. He's not bad, but he's knocking on. Can't be expensive i suppose.

UP THE TRIN !!!!:34236.jpg |

| over the hill best days have gone and he will get quite a big wage poor business! Hope Drew stays after the last few games he has showed he could go another 2 years. Hes got a far better brain than Terry and if some of our lads read him better we would get more trys, the gaps Drew creates are great. Top quality player and he is happy at us now, so hope he signs!
