I'd just like to add that I think the way the club has handled this has been exemplary.
They reacted very quickly to unequivocally condemn such action, dealt with it promptly and firmly without doing their dirty washing publically. Cut off in the bud. Well done.

My only concern is with a player who never seems to learn.

I don’t think players are roll models to fans, in anything but the widest sense. They are however when it comes to young players and senior players. I used to think Daves ebullient nature was a good thing but now we have seen the flip side.

It’s not what he does it’s the consistency in which he does at that makes it bad. Must be very hard to maintain club discipline with such a lose cannon on board.

We were all worried about Westerman when he signed but compared to Fifita he’s a model pro, or at the very least he’s more discreet. It amazes me what a big smile and a modest talent allows you to get away with.

I assume with him it’s a final warning? I equally assume that it’s a real one like you or I would get, which would allow us to sack him without compensation if he transgresses again? If not it’s fairly meaningless.

Just seems to be issue after issue with Fifita, most other players would be well gone by now.

I agree with his dip in form but you could say that about most of the squad last season, I hope he and the rest of the squad can hit top form and trturn to winning ways.

That first one alone led him to missing a substantial amount of the season, can you highlight any other player out of a pool of around 400 that refused to wear it?

There are more than you think, one of which I have not seen discussed on here but a lot of fans are aware of which was around the period I heard the club was looking for offload him, that obviously changed.

Yep that’s how I see it. Like it or not the day of the bad boy/maverick are gone, unless of course you’re still providing the goods.

I see no evidence that Fifita has the attitude or desire to get back to the player he was 2 years ago. I think people are pinning to much on this happening, maybe he will but does he strike people as the sort who can drop a grudge and knuckle down? Not to me he doesn’t.

So yes I’d take those two replacements all day long because I personally believe Fifita is a spent force. Those two hard working props would be far more useful than the player we have today.

Still hope I’m totally wrong and he bounces back but life’s taught me that some people never change. I’m now in the frame of mind with this player of what the hell is he going to do next.

I’m surprised an expert like you doesn’t recall numerous other incidents, one being a very high profile court case. If I recall this cost is his services for a while. Try doing some research.

There is of course the anecdotal evidence regarding his behaviour and the scrapes he’s been in. Even if you discount 90% of it, it’s still an unimpressive list.

On the plus side I can’t deny the mans also done some great stuff on and off the field but there comes a point where it’s no longer working, for both parties.
