| Was told by a little bird we could get it back before the cut off date.
Anyone else heard anything?
With the new buzz word being "growth" it's becoming harder to see this being rejected IMO.

Seriously though . Wasn't this supposed to be announced ages ago ? Then delayed , then delayed etc .The wait is becoming rather tedious . Should stay (if at all possible ) where you are in my opinion and upgrade your current amenities . Great little ground you have there . Nowhere else , however big and posh , will ever be your home . Ditto Cas . A huge new stadium in either location is no guarantee of increased footfall . Indeed you could both lose some 'walk-up' by moving so far out . There are a limited number of potential speccies in the WF postcode , and you are not likely to gain many fom elsewhere . Both locations (your's and Cas' ) currently are well within walking distance of a great deal of people . How many people will walk to the new places ? I would like to see figures for how many people walk to xscape . Would expect it to be a very low number .
For the good of the game I really do hope all works out well for both yourselves and Cas , but beware ....
'Build it and they will come .' is very shaky foundations .

The waiting is frustrating, but that's it now; All or nothing on (or before) the 19th.
Personally I love old grounds with character and history. I hate sitting in plastic seats to watch rugby. However, we are well past the point of no return. BV would cost a fortune to redevelop and we have no money. We don't even own the ground! and even if a few fans won the euromillions it would still be hampered by access and parking issues.
Wigan and Warrington seem to have adopted their new homes and I guess St. Helens won't be far behind.
It would be interesting to know how many 'walk-ups' we get at BV. The immediate surrounding area doesn't seem to be a hot-bed of RL supporters. Stanley, in contrast, is very much a traditional RL village, producing many professional players over the years. It also has a decent population these days, although many are commuter belt dwellers (and probably support Leeds, but might be converted by the new facilities). It will be further away for many of our traditional fans from South Wakefield, but possibly easier to access. It is directly on junction 30 of the M62 and one junction from the M1.
The other advantage is the sports facilities included in the NM site which will be a massive bonus to the club and the community.
As for 'build it and they will come'? they are already coming. An average this season of over 8000, an increase of 1500 over the last 2 seasons (which have been fairly unattractive on a sporting front). I don't think it's that much of a field of dreams to expect an average of 10k fairly quickly after occupation of a brand-new stadium, possibly sooner should we experience any measure of success on the field.
We have someone in control now who knows about sales and marketing. In Glover we trust.
For now, all we can do is wait for the political decision to be made....... then the real work starts.

It was indeed supposed to be announced ages ago, until the leader of Leeds City Council decided to spend c£25k of Leeds council tax payers money to make LCC a statutory objector to the scheme; a very progressive and forward-thinking move, that guaranteed it would be called in by the Secertary of State for a public inquiry.
As for the misty-eyed sentimentality about BV - we've been there and done that and in most cases, got over it, because we had to; you see our previous owner flogged the ground to some kind of dodgy legal entity and as far as I understand it, ownership now sits with a bank. We are tenants and will remain so until we have a suitable alternative i.e Newmarket.
As for your projections about walk-up and accessibility; given the timescales involved and our modest but impressive success thus far in increasing attendances, I'm reasonably confident that we're doing a touch more than trusting to the field of dreams model. Feel free to email your prophecies of doom and gloom to the club though - I'm sure they'd be happy to receive your help.

| Today's headline on the news, construction industry hard hit due to lack of growth, lack of jobs in general because of lack of growth. The decision is to be made on NM in the next few weeks in this current economic climate. #newmarketnewopportunity

| Quote: kinleycat "Sadly it is the only option we have, moving out of the city area, is a risk, it clearly hasn't worked for Salford, but we have a bit more history than Salford and a larger (initial) supporter base.
It is still though a very big risk, that we all hope will end up paying off, but it is no guarantee of future success, just a better chance at a better future than we currently have.
And lets be fair Shiny empty new stadia is something of a SL/RL selling point these days, i think you get an extra franchise point if you are the least watched club!!!
How did we ever get here? But I hope you and all the other hopers are right; it is our only hope and Lord knows, I hope those with power can see the economic, social and morale benefits of seeing this through. I fear the worst but maybe that's just synicism born of bitter experience. Come on Trin. Come on council and get this going!!!!!!!
