Hopefully the council will push through Newmarket for yourselves. Having both clubs in new stadiums can only go on to benefit the city as they'll both attract more fans.

In fairness, they're probably using the same optimistic formula that all developers use when estimating job creation; the same one that will have been used in trying to get NM through planning!

Shouldn't think it applies now - it's not a community stadium - it's Cas Tigers stadium, and good luck to them; Steve Gill and whomever has worked with him in the background has pulled off what successive regimes at WTW have been unable to. Agreed - but if (and it's a big if) the proposed new stadium at Glasshoughton were to be given "community" status would WMDC try to get out of building community facilities at Newmarket by saying the 5 Towns Development is for the people of the Wakefield district ?

They can pretend all they want but I live in Wakefield and it'd be a 36 mile round trip for me to get to the proposed site of the "community" facilities which actually isn't local to me or my community!

Its a big district but unfurtunately it's impossible to put everything in the centre. Wakefield city centre is not central to the Wakefield district.

WMDC have no intention or compulsion to build community facilities at Newmarket - they never did - and for anyone who was in doubt about that, the inimitable Mr Box has stated clearly in the media that it's nowt to do with him or WMDC and is entirely a matter between the club and the developer.
