| I have supported Ryan on many occasions when people have been complaining about his form this season as I personally think he can be the England centre for a good few years, but after his press confernce for Warrington I am afraid that I have lost all respect for him.I still wish well at warrington but hope he has real stinkers when we play them.

atkins did say he was still a wakefield player untill the play-offs finish and he is gonna give his all as he does in every game so you guys have gotta give him some credit for that? which bit made you lose respect for him? he seems an ok lad and a great player from what i have seen him playing for wakefield.

That's called "doing my job"
I'm sorry to see Ryan go as he is a good player and seems a decent lad. Trinity will survive, Neil Fox left, Toppo left,Gareth Ellis left, and many more and we're still here.
Thanks Ryan and best of luck apart from when you play Wakefield.

| Watched the interview. Nothing more than a young lad full of beans about a new job. Nothing derogatory is said about Wakefield or the staff, only a tongue in cheek comment about the ground and to be fair HJ is no Anfield!
Timing could have been better sure but anyone remember the Westwood and Wood contract display a few years ago at Wilderspool . As low as it gets.

| i think people are over-reacting to be honest and to say he has done nothing for us except recent games is a bit LOLworthy.
i have criticized him at times but only because i know he could be so much better.
good luck to the lad imo

If he wanted to stay or the club wanted him to leave, all he had to do was think before speaking, like everyone else.
I've long thought players/coaches etc. shouldn't let supporters get too close to them...this thread shows why that can be the case.[/quote]
Not sure I agree. The accessibility of players and staff is one of the things that makes our game stand out from others. Bet you don't bump into many soccer players in Morrisons of a Friday evening, particularly ones who are willing to stop for a brief chat with the supporters.
Long may that continue.'" '"
Agreed it helps keep the players level headed when the get shot down in Morrisons
Serioulsy though i could not agree more.

| a lot of sense on this board at last
ryan said something he probably regrets but hes not the sharpest of tools really and i think by his enthusiasm shows he was not pushed by a club he wanted to stay at for ever.
agreed?

Just post rumours on forums:10084.jpg |

I'd like to think any club worth anything would understand a player turning down such a request due to their still having commitments elsewhere, and any player put in that position would have it in them to say no.
Before hearing about the shirt thing, my attitude was fair enough and good luck to him, but this has soured my view somewhat and just seems so unnecessary.

| Quote: adam9641 "Like Ryan said in his press release, the first he heard about the move was when his agent contacted him to tell him the club had agreed a deal with Warrington.
Find it as hard as you like to believe, but it was Wakeys choice to sell.
Millard looks like he has plenty of skill, looks like he can replace Atkins but he is a different sort of player.'"
Oh come off it, he's not a piece of meat, his agent and the club cannot just do a deal and then let him know. A contract is a two way thing mate and in the same way we could force a player to stay a player can also stay until his contract ends.
I think you need to remove your rose tinted specs and accept that your hero has a mind of his own. I accept Atkins would have been happy to stay had the offer been right, you also know have to accept you've been kidded and realise he was also happy to leave for the right deal.
RL is a hard game and there is no room for sentiment - I sincerely hope you don't play cards with Ryan because he will take you to the cleaners every time. Let's move on - the king is dead long live the king!

| according to some of the posts on this thread he has been banging at the door for the last couple of years for money or threatening to leave..don't know if it is true but we have received good money and his salary off the cap..played well for the last 5 games but generally not been good enough for me..when an "old" bloke like senior makes him look stupid would rather try some "not quite as big time charlie". i would rather grix stayed with the effort he always puts in.
as for wearing the warrington gear...what brain ???
