Got to love all the conspiracy theories - the game was called off by the match commissioner with, I imagne, some input from the relevant authorities; there is more to consider than whether the pitch is clear! I'd wager that some of those people who say that the safety of spectators is their own responsibility would be the first to bang in a claim when they slipped on a bit of ungritted pavement.

If you find yourself thinking that there is something sinister going on here, I'd suggest that you find something to do with your time - you've got too much of it on your hands.

Myself I think they called this abit too early, with it only been Leeds they could have had a 12 o clock inspection. Mind you the outcome would probably of been no different.

Memo to the RFL; Next time you want to rearrange a fixture within 48 hours of the original match, you might want to watch something called a "Weather Forecast" first. It was clear to me that with all the snow that fell on Friday night and indeed yesterday, coupled with the ice forming underfoot that there was absolutely no chance whatsoever of this match going ahead this weekend. As for the ill-informed whino who has the nerve to come on here and accuse our club of "not even trying to get the game on" needs to get real and facts right. In a statement on his beloved whinos website, Leeds have actually praised the "outstanding effort made by the ground staff and volunteers" of the Wakefield club to try and get the match on. Still, it saves a fixture pile up.

The areas in the sun are starting to thaw but anything in the shade are still very icy. Sadly many of the areas around the ground are out of the sunlight so its just too dangerous. Can't say i'm too upset as its bitterly cold out there.

Gives the guys chance to be fit and fresh for the easter games at least.

Parking would have been a nightmare in the surrounding streets. Also now clubs offer pre-match hospitality it would have meant that they would have been well on the way with the catering and then the match called off!

Its not the pitch or the stadium that stopped it but whats around it, maybe you live on a main road but the estates are pretty bad with ice, a lack of parking locally due to the ice and poor under foot, the pitch like I say was fine. The council only maintain the main routes in the main due to financial contraints and the sheer volume of work it would take once off the main routes.

Quote: ant1 "Did Wakefield really make an effort to get the game on today? Or are they simply happy to play the game at a later date when their "injuries" have cleared up? If Fev get their game on and Wakefield can't be bothered it begs the question "Who is the more professional club?"'"

Perhaps it was a conspiracy between the RFL and SL who are sick of you whining whinos and the drum fuelled forward shouting supporters?
I expect Sinfield to be fitted up in a news of the world type sting operation in the coming days.
The authorities asked us and we were happy to oblige - that said it could have been any other club, such is the rhinos popularity!!
The real story of course is we have been holding a beach party down at a possitively tropical BV!!
Chump!!!

If the pitch is deemed safe to play on, If the ground is deemed safe for supporters the match should go ahead.

I have been to the supermarket this morning that wasn't closed because they were afraid of people slipping on the pavement.

All shops in wakey city centre were open, no fear from them about people slipping on the pavement.

I walked out to the pub on Friday and sat night and they were open for business and the pavements outside were terrible.

If someone slipped on the way to the ground then its nothing to do with the club and even the best solicitor in the world would never make a claim stick.

Totally gutless decision to call it off in my opinion.
