Quote: GET EM ON SIDE REF "If JK decided to go who could blame him Ted Richardson & CO must be a bloody nightmare to work under they are bloody useless just like Woodward was and all the bloody rest what we need at Wakefield is a competent board something we have lacked for 40 years.
But no I am sorry after all he has done for this club to sack him for a poor 12 match run would be so wrong
Is it his fault Newton was a complete k@ob was it his fault Tronc was a pussy was it his fault Brough wanted more money than he was worth or the club could afford is it this fault we spend nowhere near the salary cap or the general public in Wakefield could not give a toss about professional rugby league or Wakefield Trinity
I bet you the likes of Tony Smith or that idiot at Bradford could not get Wakefield anywhere near the play offs with the very limited resources Jk has to work with
I feel very strongly about this John Kears only error for me was the signing of Paul Cooke'"

Its fine to state all the things that arent Kears fault and i do think the gods have conspired ever so slightly agianst him.
However, its Kear that has blundered time and again with some mind boggling team selections.
Was Henderson injured yesterday,im unsure, but he deserved a place infront of quite a few others.
Its Kear that is coaching a mind numbingly boring 5 drives and a kick style rugby. We rarely string more than 2 passes together in a set until the fourth tackle.
We looked so clueless on attack yesterday,in the first half we had 3/4 sets on the HKR line,no guile,no ideas, the result Cooke throws a long pass for the interception.
Its Kears players that look lethargic and unfit.
Its Kears coaching methods that are out dated.
Its Kears team that isnt producing the goods in either desire or application.

I dont disagree that his budget is limited and quite frankly you cant polish a turd, however, Kear had a track record for getting better than average out of average players. We still on the whole have the same average players, but Kear is now getting below average out of these average players.

Thanks for your efforts John, but time to move on.

Stay for me,but one of the big things this season is the fitness of the team,a change in fitness coach is needed. The amount of games we should of won but lost in the last 5 -10 minutes due to not been fit enough, twice v Leeds,Catalans,Bradford,Hull and probably a few more I've forgotten, that's 10 points further up the table and puts a whole different slant on the season.

Won't come as a suprise that its a go for me. He was on his way to Catalans until the compo issue arose.
His committment was clearly not there and we shouldn't be left as second best.

He is the coach and signed the players and picks the team and is responsible for training and tactics. We are going backwards after much good progression under Kear in the past three seasons.

He should do the honourable thing and step down

Reference player recruitment, Kear can't have it both ways. You take a punt and sign lose cannons like Broughy and Newton then you run the risk of them doing something stupid, it has been apparent for years that neither of them where wired up right. Wasn't there even a rumor floating about a while back that Tronc had been homesick before?

If those 3 had have powered us into the top 4 then you would be (rightly so) heaping the praise on Kear in a similar way he takes the credit for the successes of signing the unwanted such as Blaymire, Moore & maybe even Paul King. You can't take the glory when it works but say "how was he supposed to know?" if it goes shaped with one of his recruits.

It works both ways in my opinion.

at this moment in time he is the best coach we can afford,

it would be utter madness to allow him to go as he has a higher profile in the tv light than others that could replace him,
I know you would like him to go mopsey but I think we would shoot our selves in the foot if we couldn't continue with the plan, and that's the next franchise and the new stadium

Kear has my backing all the way

As t duckfingers wrote , if you take a punt & sign loose canons like Brough , Newton & Tronc they are prone to backfire on you from time to time. But with the limited resources that seems to be available to JK he probably has no other choice than to try & unearth a gem in this way.
Unfortunately coaches feel that putting a young academy player straight in to first team games can be bad for their future with club, so try to bring them slowly in to the squad. But I believe that if they feel ready for first team rugby they should be allowed to have a go, because if not you will probably see a promising young player who as been nurtured through the Academy see a better offer with another club & be on his way before we have seen what he could like in a Wakefield shirt. I believe that this could be a better gamble than the big names of the chequered past.
Finally I think that there is no better coach who could do what JK is doing down at belle vue on the salary cap that he has to play with, however I do think that Paul Cooke is one gamble too many, maybe 2 seasons ago but not now.

We all know that Kear can get a team up for one performance, he has done it successfully throughout his career. We need consistency 2 or 3 wins strung together and then theres a platform to build from. Not sure Kear is capable of that anymore.

I can live with safety first for the odd game (when it results in a win), but it is not the sort of Rugby that is going to win games against the better teams, and it is not the sort of Rugby that people will want to watch week in week out.
