| Quote: jacques "Over the years the stadium issue has detracted from my overall enjoyment of the game.
It has caused anxiety and undue pressure amongst fans and management alike.
I never quite understood how clubs were expected to come up with the millions necessary and at the same time run a professional outfit.
To me the important thing was always the activity on the field.
Having said that I cannot now wait to take my seat at the first match at Newmarket in The Neil Fox stand.'"
Well said Jacques,I'm sure most people feel the same including myself.I will wave from my seat as well.

It'll be interesting to watch over the coming months - with serious private cash being injected and talk of WMDC switching their position from guaranteeing a loan to becoming a stakeholder, the whole thing should take on a bit of momentum; I can't wait to see the first pictures of Andrew Glover in front of a digger - hopefully one that's actually doing some digging.'"
I think Dicckie Wright has a spare Hard Hat if he needs one

| jacques post at the top of this page is bang on.
All talk over stadiums with every club has detracted massively from the spectacle we will be watching from them.
All the focus has been on fancy new stadiums - I think it's key that we get our producty to a standard capable of filling them.
The debacle at Salford should be warning enough that a new stadium doesn't mean a "happily ever after"
Bring on February!

Although I agree with your sentiments, there does have to be some mechanism both to ensure safeft, plus some progress with standards (in all aspects of the sport) and unfortunately, the stadia that we visit need to be fit for purpose.
There is no doubt that at Wakefield, up until a few years ago, the place had probably gone backwards and at least under the new management things have improved and of course Newmarket will be an excellent facility.
For your team, with the extra land that there is at Wheldon Road, it seemed to make sense to improve the place rather than start again and this seems to be the path that you will be going down, but it all takes cash and this is a scarce commodity at the moment .

As more details of that situation emerge though, it becomes clear that Salford were stitched up by the inpetitude of their own management decisions; the terms they went to the new stadium under were untenable from the outset.
The big difference with NM will be the nfp nature of the Community Trust; it's certainly the case that WTW will still need to work hard to increase attendances and maximise revenue, but I'm sure Mr Glover has already said that it will actually be cheaper to play at NM than it currently is at BV.
Thankfully, NM is an entirely different kettle of fish to the Salford debacle.

Plus, we have a much stronger fanbase than Salford, altough tbf, I hope that they come through their current situation.

I don't think it's cheaper - but it is a lot more viable. The ability to raise revenues in the new facilities will more than off-set the increased costs - but that also requires all departments of the club to play their part in ensuring a full ground, a full corporate facility and a full quota of sponsors. Momentum for the club is vital and seems to be the difference between the effect of a new ground on clubs like Wire / Saints / Hull and the likes of Hudds / Salford who didn't have momentum when moving to new grounds.

On that note, Shudds will sink as soon as Ken Davy's wallet whithers. Their attendances are terrible and the fans who actually turn up are worse. Take it from someone who goes to quite a few games with some Huddersfield fans.
What am I doing with my life? I only go on the hope they get thrashed.
Aside from my own rant Huddersfield are a side which without a huge stack of cash propping them and their side up would still be in the lower leagues. They are very fortunate they had a half decent football club to provide a stadium with all the money and attendances from that side.
Its only a matter of time in my opinion (and hopes, wishes and dreams.)

I'll certainly defer to your knowledge on this one Phil; I'm sure I recall him talking about the cost of rent and the ongoing maintenance that has to take place after every game at BV to stop it dropping to bits, being more expensive than playing at NM - I could easily have conflated two separate conversations though, it's an age thing!

Tell me about the age thing!
It could be that Andrew was also making reference to the money spent on upgrading BV - which was certainly not cheap. Either way, we know that NM is the place to be for our club and that the future is very bright indeed once we are there!

| I can also recall Glover saying that at an open evening.
NM will offer a greater opportunity for the stadium to be used almost everyday. Whether that be sporting, leisure or education.
If anybody doubts the ability of the educational arm to generate funds to I'd be happy to PM you details of how the Bulls proposed for a range of activities & programs over 2013. All of which are very easy to set up & run if you have creative & gifted educational practitioners, which WTW do (Mark Winder IMO is one of the best assets WTW has). He will be as excited as anyone, the facility will give him the space, facilities & funds to allow a genuinely "outstanding" educational practitioner the ability for creativity I believe he deserves. This will be as big a benefit as anything else.
FWIW as they (the bulls) allow U12's in for free I'm just going to take the kids & run everything in house at school in my own time, for free. Being a Wakefield lad I'm obviously a class above them anyway
NM will provide a massive chance to use RL as a base to advance so many young people in so many areas of life.

| Quote: Sandal Cat "'" Quote: Sandal Cat "There is a 6 week statutory period in which a challenge can be made. This is standard on all planning consents so its not unique to Newmarket.
The decision, as it has been through a Public Inquiry, cannot be challenged. Only the actual process can be challenged and as a Public Inquiry was undertaken by HM Planning Inspectorate who will have followed the laid down procedures I very much doubt if the process will be challenged.
A challenge would I believe have to be made in the High Court so anyone making a challenge has to have plenty of cash and more importantly be certain that a point of procedure was not followed or breached which as I have said is not likely.
I think we can all be satisfied that this hurdle has been cleared.'"
Quote: Sandal Cat "'"
Am I right in thinking that the 6 week period for legal challenges expire tomorrow?
Does anyone know if any such challenges have been made?

We are not aware of any challenge being brought - and without asking that specific question I have been in touch with several key people in the past day or so.
All is progressing well behind the scenes - hoping to get further news over the next few weeks - please be patient, these things take time!
