| Quote: The Avenger "So, looking at the pitch now, does anyone genuinely think it’s better than the old playing surface?
I’m not referring to the neglected state of the pitch that had nothing spent on it for years but the well cared for playing surface that was lauded as the best in the game by everyone who played on it.
I ask because we’ve apparently invested half a million or so on it and it now seems there are areas within the stand that would have really benefited from that money. The pitch seems to have been a bit of a vanity project but in reality it just needed some care to bring it back to its best'"
Think we'd have seen the difference had it had a winter of football played on it, particularly with the amount of rain we've had.

| I would say it's definitely worse, from high up in the East stand it looked very threadbare ,someone who as on it last week described the grass as very sp in the middle. The touch lines have also been totally trashed.
However as others have said, I would put this down to all the football. I don't know how much the FC squatters pay , but they are certainly hammering the playing surface

| I believe ME has already changed some areas of the new stand that he didn't like and let's be honest he's not short of a few half, and even, whole millions and has already stated that he has big plans for the whole stadium so I think you can safely stop worrying

Without a shadow of a doubt … it’s a huge improvement…

Very early days for the new stand ,sure they will get it sorted with either murals /pictures of past players /squads or simply paint it , lots of ideas for the wall space I’m sure will be forthcoming but more pressing matters to attend to first more than likely

It's winter now and still plays perfectly. Look at the state of the pitches featured on TV over the last few weeks - shockingly bad!
Without it, we wouldn't be able to train on it until summer at best, nor would we be able to host a soccer club and make money from the ground.
No, it's not a vanity project.'"
Compared to Cas or Fev, our pitch is like a top quality carpet.

| Certainly the way to go are the hybrid pitches , especially with what we’ve seen so far from most other games that have been shown ,and with more rain forecast for the Foreseeable it’s going to be a real leveller for the bottom teams up against the speed of the bigger clubs .

On the other hand, when our finely tuned thoroughbreds have to play on a quagmire like Odsal...
