| Quote Wakefieldite="Wakefieldite"Its all well and good giving Newton loads of grief for how in what should have been one of our club's proudest weeks in our recent history, he has single handedly managed to ruin not only his reputation as being one of the most experienced players in British rugby league and grinding our name as a club into the dirt. '"
It's still been a great week and a great season so far. He's been a Wakey player for all of 5 minutes and most of us would not have given him the time of day before he signed for us. Lets concentrate on the things that are going well and the players that are actually playing for us rather than let some bloke we really couldn't give a stuff about 'ruin' our reputation.

To be honest I think Newton could have played a really important part in our season and he would have been great for the likes of Davey and Southernwood's development. As it is he will no longer be part of the club and as you say we have to move on and concentrate on the good things that are happening at our club. All in all a crying shame, and in honesty probably a bit more of a blow to our season than many of us would like to believe.

very well put imo. i can understand why the clubs would want to know and punish players but i can not see why the RFL or any governing bodies should be getting involved.

| I can not and will not condone Terry Newton for his course of action that has brought this situation about but I do hope that when the experts make a further statement on Monday it also heralds the start of his ban so that his life is not in limbo and so that he can make plans for his future.
Snowie has referred to Dr Cecilia Tregear of the Wimpole Skin Care Centre in London. She,as part of an experiment has used the HGH for 3 years and states it's benefits [url=http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/beauty/article3663145.eceTimesonline -paras 10-11[/url
It does seem easily accessible and actor Sylvester Stallone also comments on his use of HGH and if you search, the web informs of the side-effects.
I hope this whole sorry episode galvanizes the players into winning some silverware, particularly for those who have an older biological age that Terry Newton.
I do have sympathy for him and I hope his lapse is turned into a positive not only for him but for as many others as possible.

| With the club not very pleased with the publication it does seem as though no one has informed Mr.Newton that when in a hole - stop digging !

All the quotes appear to be taken from his statement via his solicitors. To me it just shows how the Sun can twist stories in way that sensationalises it to suit its readership.

| Whilst much has been said about this whole sorry episode and its effects on the club, the game as a whole and Newton's future (or lack of) in the game, little has been said as to why he did it.
When it was announced that Newton was joining Wakey there was a lot of reservations expressed on this board. He was coming off the back of an injury-ridden season, many Bulls fans were critical of his performances, his commitment and desire, McNamara was happy to let him go. John Kear showed faith in him and brought him to club and, because of that, most fans were prepared to reserve judgement.
Clearly Newton had no intentions of living of his past glories and seeing out his remaining playing days taking it easy (as some inferred). In order not to disappointment his new coach, club and fans he was prepared to take a very dangerous and foolish gamble and cheat. Fortunately, for the good of the game he was caught, but when we look back on Terry Newton's very brief time at the club we should at least feel that he had come here intending to give his all for Wakey

You are presuming he had never took that gamble before.
Sorry, but i dont buy it for one minute, that he did it so as not to disappoint his new coach, club and fans.IMO the only person he was interested in not disappointing was himself,by cheating.
So,i wont look back at his time at Wakefield feeling he intended to give his all for Wakey --- I will look back at his time here,as a player that would go to any lengths, including cheating,to preserve and prolong his career, purely out of self interest.
I will look back on his time here,as the player that got our club bad publicity.
I will look back on his time here,as the player that took the shine off an excellent start to the season.
I will look back at his time here,as the player that left our squad short in numbers.
