| It is time our board said we are no longer going to be a feeder club we are actually building now we have a good team and an amazing coach! I don't believe for 1 minute Danny wants to go to Shudds over Wakey. The board need to show the fans on this 1 will they let us down???

Did they let you down when they signed Brough, or Drew, or Snitch, or Wilkes, or Moore etc.....
As said earlier - we do not know the full picture and if we sell a player it is because we think we can do better, albeit maybe not a direct replacement.
John Kear will have the final say - is that good enough for you!

So speaks a man who isn't bankrolling the club!!!!
I don't accept your proposition that we are a feeder club - well I don't accept thats the clubs strategy anyway. As I see it the club are using a strategy of employing excellent management. This excellence allows us to recruit (at lower initial contract cost) players from lower leagues, under a cloud at another club or coming to the end of their career. The excellent management have excelled at developing these players into proven SL players (worth more than their initial contract because, as SL players with a track reccord there is more competition for their signitures).
From time to time our favourites will become worth more to other clubs than they are to us. Not because they are not good players or because they are not worth what the other club are prepaired to pay. BUT because they no longer represent value for money for our club given our strategy. I don't think this is the club letting us down when this happens
Now adopting this strategy has ensuured we have never been relegated from SL (I'll grant you we have had close scrapes) and by and large season on season seen our playing strength, backroom staff and community development grow (oh and sees us with a possibility of a new stadium). Falling attendances are an anomoly fed by the recession and lay offs in the city I believe
When will this boards track record of prudent management be recognised and when will supporters put their faith in the BOD?

Sadly I feel to some of our supporters the answer to your question is never (or at least not until they have gone and we have someone who doesn't do as good a job).
I think a lot of people on here like to shout down the current board and spout on about how someone else could do a much better job but fail to realise that there isn't anyone else out there willing to put up the money to give it a go. And you know they would be the first to complain if Ted did sell up and we ended up in a right mess because of a different strategy from a new board.

JK say so is good enough for me but sadly is job will be made harder by the board I feel. Its not the board who get the £ its the money given to them you its not like they are signing the players. Those 3 players snitch, wilkes and moore people were groaning but look what Kears made them into its down to JK. Brough is replacable but hes our own product hes english etc we lose more than just his talent.

1. Are we Being bankrolled? Never saw ted as a sugar daddy type, no question about his comitment over the years, but the intimation that we are being bankrolled ( if this is the case, quite poorly it would seem!!) would put us in poor light.
2. The spectators will view the BOD differently, and remember all sports fans are a fickle bunch, when we, a) start to maintain our assets (quota permitting) and, b) when we achieve an element of consistent improvement that ultimately leads to some success.
You speak a great deal of sense and I agree with a lot of your sentiment, but sport my friend is a funny old game!!! Supporters have positive and negative views based on percieved success, what is success for me, may not be your idea of success, and so we must accept each others views and criticism, safe in the knowledge that we all want our percieved success.
I firmly believe that from a management point of view we are heading in the right direction, things have improved massively in recent seasons, but I return you to point 2!! And then they probably won't!!!!!!! So roll with it, it's life I'm afraid

| dont see any major downside to brough leaving, seems to me like he thinks he is too gud for the team anyway, with him gone surely this would help to galvanise the team together, half backs, rooney, sam o, drew, plus any youngsters in reserves, surely your covered plus £100,000 in bank, also if he went to saints yuo could prob get matty smith or scott moore thrown in the deal. sounds like a great plan to me?????????

Then you're obviously not a Wakey fan and know very little about either our club or our players ability, but thanks for your input

NGBC was suggesting that by letting DB go the BOD will be letting down the fans. My bank rolling comment, all be it a litlle oblique, was suggesting that in order to manage the club in a manner different to the manner that it is presently managed would require someone bankrolling the club. I feel it is unfair to critique the BOD for not being sugger daddy types - unless they are unreasonably standing in the way of potential sugger daddy types - and I don't think they are.
I was making the point that the BOD appear to have a strategy that is deliving improvement on a slow but gradual incline and that the credit they are due too rarely finds expression on this forum.
Sure the measure of success is subjective, I accept that. I also accept that after 30 years my expectations as a none sentimental practical fan aint very high.
