yeah thought that at the time but it clearer in the news headlines, I suppose he didn't want to sound domineering like a tyrant

It’s only by people critiquing the governments initial response that they’ve now changed course! Thousands more would’ve likely died had they stuck with the “herd community” plan.
People can call it whatever they want, but I for one will not allow the past 10 years of austerity to be simply forgotten because it makes those in power & those who put them there, uncomfortable. The public needs to remember why the NHS is in such a state in the first place; remember why the government is choosing to now pay the private sector for beds that we had less than a decade ago & moving forward, pay those fantastic individuals who literally risk their lives for the rest of us, a fair a decent wage.

Please don’t think the above is a personal dig at you snowie; politicians must always be accountable & face the consequences of the decisions they make. It’s not for us to make it easy for them; whichever colour rosette they wear.

So we are all to forget that the reason we had 10 years of austerity was because labour left the country skint re the message there's no money left.

How much money do you think will be left after this Coronavirus payout. Will we be blaming the conservatives for the lack of funds?

Were Labour Really responsible for the Global financial collapse.

Let's leave the party politics alone.
Plenty of other places for you to discuss that.

For me, there are two great destructors of society that are man-made. They are religious people and political people though frankly there one of the same in my book.

These are people who are utterly convinced they are right and have the answers. At the moment the worst offenders are the die-hard socialists on here, but if labour were in charge I’m sure it would be the other way around.

They cover their bitterness by claiming that debate and questioning make governments do the right thing which inevitably is their thing.

For example, we have a poster on here he is usually quite sound claiming that his opinion and that of others changed the government's opinion on the herd response. Utter self-opinionated rubbish, how the hell do they know the PM has changed his stance or that the theory is wrong? They don’t but like thousand of little Piers Morgan’s they are convinced they do. Ditto profiteering and assistance on wages etc.

Stop talking crap, you don’t have the figures, you don’t have the facts and virtually nobody has the knowledge!

In these situations which are less than once in a lifetime public opinion and the democratic process counts for very little. Do you think the virus cares what you think?

It’s at times like these where those we elect have to take charge and we have to back them and trust them. They are the only ones with any real oversight and power.

They will get stuff wrong, Churchill got loads wrong. We lost far more battle than the Germans but we won the war, it’s only ever the last battle that really counts.

So why don’t people drop the party political stuff? Sure question things you think are wrong but do so to help not to point score. If you must then do it at home, bore the wife to death.

In the meantime let those with the responsibility do their jobs without this pathetic backbiting.

There will be plenty of time for recriminations later when all the bodies are buried and we have the final tally. How large that number is will depend hugely on people obeying the authorities whether they like it or not.

Some serious growing up is required by some, we’ve all had an easy like since 1945 but the fun may now be over and you might have to get used to it. That, by the way, includes Boris and his vain attempt to appear libertarian, won’t work mate as the virus is a thug.

Oh, and I might be wrong, see its easy icon_biggrin.gif

I'll be glad when this is all over and everyone can go back to being armchair Rugby League coaches rather than armchair virologists, bacteriologists, economists, supply chain guru's, and last but not least bog roll hoarders.

icon_lol.gif icon_biggrin.gif Nice one, very funny. It's what makes the world go round though isn't it? Maybe that's the problem, we are all frustrated RL coaches, virologists, bacteriologists, not to mention politicians etc etc......and very frustrated AT the bog roll hoarders, people stood in public places with not a cigarette paper between them, STILL not getting just why they are being told not to do this etc, etc......

Agree with a lot of what you say. I think this has come as a massive shock to the 'younger generation' and I don't mean to sound patronising, i'm 46 and have never tried to take anything, or anyone in life for granted, but not always successfully obviously. Taking someone's civil liberities and freedom away is a massive shock to the system, and no doubt to many people having no McDonalds is the be all and end all! Maybe when this is all over, it will change some for the better, and give them some kind of perspective, and hopefully make them appreciate things, especially the simple things in life. More importantly, as with any historical event, whether that be World Wars or global pandemics, what are we to learn from these in order that we don't make the same mistakes again? Although with this, and so called 'lesser' outbreaks like Ebola etc, something like this was probably inevitable, but are they totally avoidable? Not sure, i'm not an expert........ icon_rolleyes.gif
