| Decent crowd against Catalan , although not the scoreline I’d hoped for , then on to a much tougher game against Wigan ,where I didn't expect a win ,just a respectable scoreline .It’s like a recurring nightmare and has been for as long as I can remember, in that we seem to be always just one game away from a horrendous blowout , coaches have come and gone and so have players but the spectre still haunts us . How on earth the club is expecting to build our fan base apart from us fans with blind loyalty is beyond me . And to that end if we can’t attract and keep new fans how are we going to attract the best players to the club without the income . I’m not going to biff the players I’m sure they are professional enough to realise that their performance isn’t acceptable in anyway shape or form , and just hope they are hurting just as much as the loyal fans that have followed them through thick and thin, mainly thin over the years . I’m hoping we see a much improved performance against the giants after that debacle last night , that is the least they can do , because looking at the team sheet and even with the chopping and changing that went in and a red hot Wigan , it simply shouldn’t have got to that scoreline.

Not my words mate, but those of our great leader. Maybe he has cut the budget, who knows.'"
Maybe we're looking to record another annual profit.
Could it be that clubs have actually seen a rough draft of the IMG requirements and making a profit is one?
If so that could be one to us, but a huge gamble

I agree with this. Been a Wakey fan of the modern era at times feels like perpetually living in purgatory. What ever defence systems Applegarth/Ford have brought in simply are either not working, or the players simply aren’t working hard enough to implement them. Or even worse the players simply are not good enough at this level and are been massively exposed already. Either way the book stops with the head coach. The majority of fans knew this was going to be a tough season with a young untested coach and a big turn around in players. 60 - 0 however is boys against men and is totally unacceptable. The amount of tries where Wigan players strolled In untouched is just embarrassing.

| We're expected to make a £400k loss or so for the finacial year just past so that could be why we've lost so much quality and not replaced them with similar. In an already bottom third team, and from the opening two games, that decision is looking very ominous.

Doubtful, he’s already said we are likely to make a loss next up as well.

| Well if those performances keep up his hospitality and gate receipts will take a dive and so will the profits regardless of any other funding issues

A repeat of Salford away last year.

| We were always going to be on the receiving end last night.
What is unacceptable was the attitude.
Body language was shocking, even after the first try there seemed to be an acceptance that what was to follow was inevitable.
There is lots of talk about the ability of players that have gone and that’s fair, however with those players there seems to have also be removed the heart.
There is a distinct lack of belief and job 101 on Monday is to look to get some fight into this group of individuals, who at the moment are not a team.

| Not that it's just one players fault, but how many tries have been conceded on the right edge in Lineham's last three SL games for us? Either we're are leaving him massively exposed, highly likely given how high and dry we historically have left our wingers, or he is positionally suspect which is emphasised more in a poor team.

I was listening to the podcast with MA and he talks about developing a resilience that was lacking last year. He has his work cut out if that, as a group, is all we have.

Wigan scored 5 tries down his wing.
At a stretch you could blame him for not being fast enough on the kick over but most wingers in the league are not.
Twice he had three players running at just him.
I'd personally have Kershaw on the field but those tries weren't Lineham's fault.

There’s a receiving end and then there’s that. Does that mean we have to be worried about playing every team after a loss? The Wigan team was near identical to the team that lost to Hull KR yet their attitude was completely different. I said last week we were really poor and our forwards were really sluggish. Is that no surprise why we’re getting pumped outside with the middle lads not covering across like they should leaving our outside edge high and dry.

If the team as a whole are not defending in sync then the outside edges are left high and dry. Lineham is an easy scapegoat, but when he’s left 3/2 on 1 WTF is he meant to do. Think Cameron Ciraldo would struggle to sort out our defence at the minute.

So high and dry then.

That’s the point I was making, we all knew what was coming in regards a very motivated Wigan team…and the team on the pitch seemed to accept it was inevitable and put up no resistance right from the first minute. That’s unacceptable.
The Wigan team was different but only 2 players different but it was a message sent by their coach after a soft display last week. Having the ability to drop an English international and an Irish international and bring into the 17 an experienced Samoan international and in impact Prop with NRL experience shows the gulf in the 2 squads.
We need to make changes starting with Lineham, I’m not sure if Crowther is injured but if fit he also needs to come in, to bring some pride and determination into the pack.
