| Must be a revised deal then. The 1st one was a no go apparently.

| And it was just a rumour apparently from an unreliable source.
If it is true, welcome aboard Ryan

| Is it just me or if this signing to good to be true. With this lad on board we would be incredibly strong- way stronger than any Trinity side I can recall. Makes you wonder how the hell we got him and how the hell we've got the team we have.
If true it's absolutely stunning - doesn't mean success is guaranteed - but stunning all the same.

| To be fair wasn't there a bit of animosity between Kear and Hampshire's dad? Is it to simplitic to suggest with his departure a move to Trinity is a little more palatable to the family?

| A good lad to have in our squad if it does come off.
Obviously, with JK leaving it left some money free and with us only having Finn & Miller as out and out halves (although we could have managed), that has swung it. He'll get a chance at some point to play in his preferred position and may back himself on eventually making it is own, especially as Finny isn't getting younger. If we have signed him, it isn't to play FB because we're quite rich in that department.

| Didn't CC or MC (can't remember which one)earlier this week mention we were looking to complete the squad with a half back. Ryan is the answer for me

I am a massive fan of Ryan, even though I live in Australia I keep a close eye on his progress and he has had a rough time off the field which may have affected his form over the last 12 months.
But I have always rated him higher than George Williams and I stand by that, hopefully he will get the chance to show his quality if it is true that he has signed at Wakey.

I think far to much is made of this. I've met his dad a couple of times and rather like myself he comes across better in the flesh. He certainly had issues with JK but they didn't seem so severe that he'd try to stop his son playing under him. That's assuming he still has that much influence over his now 22 year old son.
I suspect it was a money issue if there is any substance in the stories. I suspect Trinity wanted a one year suck it and see deal whilst Ryan probably wanted a more secure deal over perhaps 2-3 years, Understandable from both parties. Perhaps the JK deaparture has now allowed a compromise to be reached - but it's pure speculation on my part.

| Pretty much agree there Shifty. Miller and Finn will still no doubt be first choice, I'm sure but Funny getting no younger, so I would like to think he'd want to nail down the spot for himself.
One thing worth considering is that our two oldest players were the only players involved in the world cup. You have to ask the question, how much will they have left in the tank towards the latter part of the season. The older you get, it gets harder to recover from previous games.
Would not be surprised to see Finn and Grix plaguing a few less games, which will give chance to other younger players to stake a claim. They're good enough. It is a healthy place to be right now.
Hopefully he will get game time in the friendlies partnering Miller in the halves

Not rugby related if that helps.

Last paragraph is spot on, a one year deal is no good to a young player. It’s about time he settled into a club that will bring out the best in him.

| Always liked him at Cas but he never seemed his best at half back. Lovely skill set though and he did well at full back and finished well on his games on the wing.

| Funny that, we're embarrassed with full backs, we've 4 top class wingers that would walk in most SL sides, but we're a little light on half backs.

If he signs for us it will be as a halfback end of story - luckily for him he won't need to perform straight out of the box. Also the hype surrounding him has died down a bit so expectations are more realistic. On the same note he himself will have matured a little.
If it works out I see him as a better version of Miller which is pretty good, whether he has it in him to become a master of his craft like Finn who knows.
