| I think Reece has all the physical attributes to be a top notch centre, but he seems to lack conviction in what he does on the rugby pitch. The biggest problem for me is that he doesn't seem to read the game very well in defence and frequently makes bad plays in defence. Cats exploited this in the first half of the friendly, admittedly not all Reece's fault but he does have to take some responsibility. For me Reece has to step up now and have a quality start to the season, we've enough centres at the club that theres no reason for one that isn't performing (which happens over the course of a season and I'm not just applying this to Lynne but to Tupou, Arundel and Gibson also) to keep starting.

Arundel might be a slight threat to Lyne's place in the team but Gibson's really light years behind.

Agree with most of this but I think Gibson needs a bit more time, what with the injury last season and lack of games to up his confidence, he run the ball in better as the game went on at Fev. Joe is a strong kid and withstands the tackle better but Reece I believe is quicker and more chance of breaking the line. CC and JK have a bit of a headache for selection as they have in a few other positions. A nice headache to have for a change

| for me both lyne and bjb are not super league standard centres - maybe a spot on the wing for one of them.
topou and Arndell for round 1 for me

| Whose picked BJB at centre? As for Lyne, well that dummy against Salford where he sent Obrien to the car park was top class - but that's a rarity.

| I'd rather see Lyne in the team than not. He's a bigger threat than the rest of our backs with the exception of Johnstone.

Gibson looked our best centre till his injury last season and our purple patch was largely with him and Arundel as our centres as I recall. None of our centres are ideal in my view. Some have strengths where others are weak but Gibson looked the most rounded player to me

This preseason I would describe him as flat.

| I do agree Gibson is good but he was only a short part of the winning run.
Didn't he play against Hull (after Arundal got injured I think) and was then injured in the next game against Widnes, when Tupou came back in for him.
I may have the exact number of games wrong there but it seems to have been forgotten how well we handled our centres being injured one after another through that period. We did pretty well handling it compared to some teams who just bemoaned their losses and used it as an excuse.

| Lyne lacks confidence in hjs ability at times he needs to work on his positioning in defence though as that side of his game is lacking though he can tackle quite well.

| Quote: les-goose "Lyne lacks confidence in hjs ability at times he needs to work on his positioning in defence though as that side of his game is lacking though he can tackle quite well.'" I think he gives 100%. I like the lad. I am just a bit sad to say, I just don't think he quite has it at SL level. He does for periods of matches, maybe even a match or two now and then but he is never far away from being badly exposed in defence or spilling the ball in a key moment or field position. Those depressing walk-in tries that we see on our flanks are very often his bad defensive position or premature bad decision. And he does not appear to be learning much. I thought he had it the season before last. He had a good run for a few games but then it was back to usual. Vey hit and miss. I think this season is his last chance with us for me. If he keeps getting caught out I would let him go.
