We definately do see it all differently.
I thought Singleton was one of the best forwards on the pitch and took some tackling. Glad Poore didn't take his head off with that tackle now! He is only 20 and is 6ft 4 inches tall & 16 stone so could play prop/second row where he has played for Leeds. Look him up.
He will be good value for money I can see why R.A. has gone for him. He will push Mariano & Wilkes for their spots on the bench due to his flexibility & if Washbrook gets injured can go to loose forward as we need Aiton at hooker. He is hopefully a bargain loan signing and what Wakefield need with Mariano, Wilkes, Raleigh and Amor injured. I remember the doubters about Sykes signing last season and look what happened......
I like Trout but thought he didn't have the impact yesterday that Singleton had and is an out and out second row only. Its a long season and we were lucky last season with injuries. He'll get more chances in his natural position.

We were obviously looking for an established superleague prop on a permanent contract and ended up with a relatively untried loan signing. All we are doing is help develop him for Leeds as there is no way we will end up with him permanently this time. Sorry but we may as well have kept Matt James.'"
Look what happend to Amor

Most Leeds fans seemed to agree with me, can't say he stood out. However he has potential but that's all, personally I'm with others on here I just don't see what he offers over Trout for example - not at this point in his career anyway. Clearly wasn't what AG was after, seems an odd one.

| If Singleton comes he comes, if he doesn't he doesn't. Like has been said, if he turns out to be another Amor then its a shrewd bit of business.
We are lucky to have the Props we have in my opinion. Yes, we are one down but I would imagine that one will be coming in very shortly- and if that is Singleton then so be it.

The Leeds lot rate him massively, so he must have something about him.
I thought the kid looked pretty good yesterday nothing more but it's hard get a proper opinion of him in a pre season friendly, a lot of the players on show looked under cooked.

| Thought Singleton looked a decent prospect yesterday but was very impressed with Trout's workload especially in the absence of Poore. My preference on the limited action i've seen of Singleton would be that it'd be a silly loan in that there is little to split the two. I'd hope Trout is given the opportunity to develop and experience more SL games especially when he handled himself relatively well last season.

Trout will feature a fair bit next season IMO, as a back row forward.

Does he offer more than Trout, didn't see it myself.

| Why is it a shoot-out between Trout and Singleton? I don't see any suggestion that we're off-loading Trout to bring him in, so I don't see how his addition as cover in the forwards will do anything to hinder Trout's development.

Nobody is suggesting that. The issue is whether Singleton offers more than Trout, because if he doesn't I'm not sure I get the deal. Basically you're just duplicating a fringe player, when what most people seemed to think was that we needed an experienced prop. That is certainly what Agar seemed to suggest. It's not a dig at the club or the player just a legitimate question.
Basically we still have not got the much vaunted 5th prop - if Singleton is the answer then we already had the player in Trout IMHO.
What both these players become in the future is another matter.

| I'm not sure that Singleton is the answer to the original question; perhaps he's just the answer to a supplementary question that came up during the process?? (stretching the analogy there a bit, I realise)
I wouldn't be surprised to see another experienced prop come in - meanwhile, Singleton offers additional cover and for me, Trout's future is in the SR; he's a tough lad, but I don't think he's big enough to mix it with SL props week in and week out.

I don't think he does offer more than Trout, but that is a matter of opinion.
We had a perfectly good prop in Tom Lilycrop and let him go, we had a good prop called Adam Gledhill- we let him go. There must be method in the madness?
