Do we know he's turned down a new contract?
IF he has and his heart is not at Wakefield then he won't be the first fans favourite to leave, will he?
I like Lewis and I hope he stays, but my take on spectacular wingers is that I'd personally rather see a good team effort winning games than relying on wingers, as we did with Tom Johnstone.
Oh, and for all the time we had Tom, most of it we struggled, so not the end of Trinity being a good team if Murphy left.

| I read Sadlers article this morning with a disappointed air… what used to be a good informed publication now just repeats the social media memes …
MC spoke to the current situation with Murphy… offer was made on contract extension … rejected… no further discussion … Murphy still has 12 months left on contract…
There may have been fuelled media speculation about St Helens being interested, but Trinity are not a selling club anymore and quashed those rumours
So Officially any interest must be though the club, but there has been no formal contact made from Saints… any other type of contact would be against the rules of the competition.
I find it sad that a potentially positive article is turned into a torrent of speculation and click bait… I cancelled my standing order for league express, but they keep sending me the newspaper until my yearly fee runs out…
Today reminded me as to why I cancelled!!

Have you bought a news season ticket, or are you penny pinching? Happy new year to you.

| What would you chose ,a board that as wiped of a 2 million pounds det and are spending over 12 million pounds on the ground and were the only club in S Lnot to ,be thousands in det or Lewis Murphy .Even with Murphy in the team we finished 3 bottom At present he is not in the same class as T J .and as a long way to go to get there .We have a hard season this season's and need a team that will give 100%and pull together If a player is not happy get rid one bad apple in a squad can do damage

| I dont think its a case of penny pinching at all. Its the fact Saints have sold him the dream and thats something as a club we are unable to offer right now.
But as I have said before we are not short of wingers and will survive without him. However as a club , i dont think we should allow him to play us along. We should have a grown up conversation . If its the end, put him on the market and at least get compensation.

I can't agree with that after Murphy's meteoric rise to fame. There's a limit however to what we can pay.
I bet the terms are pro rata to what TJ was offered when at a similar age but he was different, his heart was with the club. Perhaps Murphy's isn't.

| It's strange that so many are having a go for us potentially losing one of our young players but, the very reason that Saints have a vacancy, is that one of their own, very talented players, is leaving them.
It's just the grim reality of professional sport.
I really hope that Murphy stays though

If Saints have approached him which is very doubtful as he is on contract and in theory cannot approach until May. Clubs can let the unseetling be done by the media which appears to be the ongoing issue here.

| If Murphy stays beyond his current contact all well and good , if not we move on without him .we simply Cannot be held ransom by anyone especially in this financial/economic downturn that the country is facing . If the lad is adamant he wants away I’d be tempted to sell him rather than let him walk for nothing at the end of his contract ,no good having anyone at the club if they see their future elsewhere . We’ll never be in a position to keep players when the big clubs flash the cash , but I’d much rather the club be on a financial footing than paying contracts beyond our means no matter who it is , including Murphy . As I look at ,it if he goes it gives someone else a chance to stake a claim .

| Players come and players go. I remember when Neil Fox left for Bradford and how sick I felt. Murphy who has only played a few games is a promising winger but he's no Neil Fox, we'll move on without him.
