| Tricky one. Can still turn it on but age obv not on his side. With kirmo and Tuson starting think Ali could do a great job off the bench. If the price is right then keep him on

Am I on my own in thinking the Ali money may be better spent elsewhere?'"
As other posters have said,I too believe he can change a game being a impact player off the bench, he draws opposition players in creating space for others.I would def give him another year, one of the few players in Super League that is a pleasure to watch with ball in hand.

| My post was on the basis of value for money in terms of the fact that he has not offered as much this season as last and we have limited funds.
If we could get him to accept a reduced deal then I wud be happy for him to stay

| Mixed messages again from our CEO on these. Sure Olly Wilkes will love to be described as the younger end!
[i“We are in discussions with Ali and Lee Smith,” Elston confirmed. “The only players who are out of contract [at the end of the year] are Ali and Lee and some of the younger end.[/i
Yet from our website about this time last year....
[i
Wakefield Wildcats are pleased to announce five-time Grand Final winner Ali Lauitiiti has signed a new one-year extension that will see the second-rower remain at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium until the end of the 2014 season.[/i
No mention of it being an option for 2014, just a contract until then. If the money is right then i'd like to see him stay, he still has something to offer. Maybe can't do big minutes anymore but that where Tautai comes in.

| Rotate with Tautai to give opponents plenty to think about, then Tuson and Kirmond might find the gaps.

| It would be great to get another year out of Ali - we don't have the opportunity to see players of his calibre in the R,W&B that often and used properly, off the bench for impact, he still has a lot to offer. I'd imagine he's also a very positive presence around the club, particularly as a role model for the younger players.
The noises around Amor, Smith and now Ali would seem to suggest that the rumours of our impending demise are just that; Mr Glover is far from daft - if he could see an implosion coming, he wouldn't be signing players up for next year.

| Maybe with a decent stand off or a fully fit and motivated Sykes then Ali may be far more of a key player in 2014 than this disappointing (from Ali) season. Same with TT.

| Tuson could be another 80 minute player for our second Row.
I think Ali despite his years still offers alot. He makes good yards and can draw many a defender in still. Worth another year.
Would like to see
Poore
Aiton
Amor
Tuson
Lauititi > interchange with Tautai
Kirmond

| I think Ali is worth another year. hes started on occasions and has been asked to do a lot more 'donkey' work. If Tautai is to fill that void and play 60 mins a game, I think Ali would be great in a 20 min (or two ten min) spell to send him running hard at the line with support either side for when he gets his arms free. if we can support him in those instances, hes still a useful player.

| Alis new contract I would imagine be less money due to his age, hes still a quality player though and when hes on the field he has an impact.

| He's certainly still worthy of a shirt, assuming he's not on a huge contract!

Id be inclined to keep him and chase him for another year....Out starting pack for next year has been highlighted earlier on in this thread, and whilst it looks competitive, we need interchange options and its no good having good pack if your interchanges are poor....and thats where is see Ali adding value - to be used as leeds used him to devastating effect.

| Don't understand why we wouldn't retain Oli after the season he's had. Feel a bit sorry for him tbh because he seems to have become the forgotten man in the last 2 weeks. Gets dropped for being in form apparently... Can't imagine him being one of the big earners either. I 'd have thought Amor, Raleigh, Poore, Ali e.t.c would all be on a higher salary.

Rumour has it (and I don't know if true) that Wilkes was one of the signings made by JE before Agar came in and like several of the other signed at that time is on a bigger contract (in money terms) than ideal.
If Ollie was prepared to saty for less than he is (allegedly) on now then yes, sign him up. If he wants the same money again then I suspect that is where the club have to look at VFM.
