A new coach plus a whole team of new players means that they need to be given time.

This is the best side we've had for years & when the grounds get harder we'll get better. We'll win alot more than we did last season & won't be on the receiving end of the hammerings we got last year.

How about a bit of food for thought for shudds game.

Ellis/Aiton to share the hooking role

Wood to start in the halves

Drop one of Smith/John

Why not try this?
It's not major surgery just tweaking to see if it makes a difference and would surely make Smith or John have to fight for their place.

next 3 games very very tough for us, dry weather wont help us beat any of the next 3 sides so stop kidding yourself.

early days to say that I dont see a Domic/Ellis/Solomona in this team and its still a long way off the other play off season team
I have seen nothing yet to convince me why John is over here and for that matter Smith or Mellers
On a plus side Wood and Kirkmond have gone well early days but I do not buy into the dry harder ground excuse
I have always said 10th at best this season and next season will be the time to judge Agar next week will be a real test for us looking forward to it.

Thing all other sides tend to play better rugby in dry weather as well! The temperature going up doesn't affect the big guys anymore, they are all that well conditioned that they can easily cope with it these days. Put it this way, Catalans are generally regarded as having one of, if not the, biggest packs in the league and they don't do bad do they? And they play half their games in the south of france!

Lets be honest here, we aren't yet in a position to challenge the top six. Best we can hope for is maybe a couple of wins if we have a bit of luck against them, same as last year. What we have to do is is beat the teams around us. The ones from 7th to 14th. We've beaten what is now proving to be a poor Widnes side and lost against three others that are likely to be in that bracket. Sadly i fully expect us to be 1 from 7 by the time we play london at the end of the month. This is going to end up very much a transitional year and if you think we'll win a 'lot' more' than last year you are likely to be disappointed. A couple more maybe but that will probably be it.

I'll settle for 10th or 11th and the go-ahead for Newmarket for this year. Maybe a bit of a cup run to gets the juices flowing. Next year is the crucial one.

i said it last week and i will say it again this week, Smith and John are here for a holiday and should be replaced next week by the 2 lads playing halves in the reserves, i have played and coached long enough to see when a player is just going through the motions, and can we please have Wood on from the start

my next ? has RA got enough nounce and &alls to see it and do something about it,

Obviously you have a right to your opinion but I don't agree at all. I don't think they are here for a holiday at all.
Takes time to gel a team and takes time for overseas players to get used to life over here.
.............saying that, I'm not against dropping them if need be.

Aiton is hitting the ground running as is Southern, but I reckon it will take time for John to get used to this time of game.
Smith I'm ok with.

I personally would put Wood to stand off and drop John.
I'd be tempted to put Walshaw in to centre above Mellors as well. Mellors possibly on the wing if Cockayne injured.

BUT overall I'm ok with where we are.
We are not easy beats and we are not without skill, they just haven't found their groove yet.
We are getting better, just not quite finish off properly yet.
I reckon we will hammer someone badly when we get it going.

Totally agree, Wood has more spark than both of them and assuming Ellis is "good to go" then worth a shot.

Great comments from everyone.

We do need some time to gel.Tweaking our half backs to ensure that
nobody falls into thinking that they are indispensable may be required,
to judge their motivation levels and how they respond.

Fully agree that motivation needs improving. It was there at the end
yesterday but lets not wait 65 minutes first.

Conversely when we were dominant against KR and the Bulls we lacked
one little spark, that's all.

Time for someone to step up to the mark and be that catalyst.

Do we have him. I don't know, but I sure hope so.

Would be nice to start against Huddersfield though.

i guess the fear is that by the time we "gel" we'll be cast adrift with widnes. salford have picked up wins, we must do the same.

It doesn't matter when we pick the wins up as long as we do. Panic buying and panic changes don't help anyone. The team we have will get better by playing together.
However, by team that is just the first 13. If someone needs to be dropped because the guy behind is better then great, we have competition for places. If we just drop someone because they made a mistake or they are not quite doing it we will always be in that position.

For me the only thing I would change is start with Wood at 6 and John at sub.Just so John could have a look at where everyones at from a different view just as a certain ozzie great who has just retired did when he was learning.
Everyones doing ok and 4 games in things could have gone the other way with a bit more luck.
Widnes - fitness and better quality of players won the game
Hull KR - Could have gone the other way so easily miss called forward pass,Mariano dropped ball .
Bradford - By far the better side in the first half, silly penaltys in second half and allowing BJ room to kick.
Hull - Good defending for 70 mins, bit more time on clock and could have been a different story.
