| Quote: Sutton has matured, he's ready for rep footy "The Single Worst Play of the Season
Last Wednesday, the South Sydney Rabbitohs announced that John Sutton had extended his contract with the club until the end of the 2014 season. Oft-criticised for his lackadaisical approach to the game, Saturday's match against the Bulldogs was Sutton's chance to repay the faith shown in him by Souths management and silence his many critics.
And five minutes in, he looked to be on pace for a decent showing after he put Dave Taylor over with a nice pass at the line to put the Bunnies in front early.
However we should expect this by now from Sutton, who since beginning his first grade career as a 19-year-old in 2004 has been Rugby League's ultimate tease.
The man just oozes with potential. His ability to free his arms and offload is rivaled by only a select few in the modern era. He possesses a monstrous left boot capable of raking off huge metres with little effort. And he flashes the ability to ball-play at the line when every so often he throws a ball that makes your jaw drop.
But for his vast oceans of promise, time and time again he has failed to deliver. He is renowned for disappearing for long stretches. He always seems to play best when his team is either far ahead or far behind. To sum him up, he's consistently inconsistent.
Every year, around this time, the inevitable "Sutton has matured, he's ready for rep footy" articles pop up in the media. But, like the Bunnies team he plays for, these stories are far more style than substance. There is a very good reason why Sutton has never achieved representative honours
Sounds terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| If we signed john sutton i'd be the first in the que for a season ticket next year,
He is an oustanding player, his ability to break the line and off load is amazing, he's a stand off in the body and strengh of a back fow with the pace of a winger, I think he is the best 6 in the NRL, there was a lot of talk of him playing origin and i was surprised he didnt get a game,
I'm surprised he's coming to SL at all, He's out of our league sadly but will most defo keep my fingers crossed!

nope, just my opinion and south are my nrl team, so i've watched him play alot
all the above players you mention are worldclass,
for me when you're talking about nrl players its more down to personal preference they are all that good!
for what its worth though, sutton has a totally different style of play to the other 6's you mention, its his strengh and ability to go through tackles that make him dangerous and so exciting to watch

| I'd love to see Feleti Mateo pack down at 13 or stand at 6 in the same team as Lauitiiti

Posted years ago we should look at this kid when he was young and not played a handful of nrl games. He's a monster. Although not seen him play recently.

Yes he's some player, looked like he was going to be good, when he was down in London a few years ago.

yeah totally agree with that, another guy with serious x factor, I bet FM can generate more offload in one game that we have this entire season, he's another guy that i really lookforward to watching on a weekend
he's still very young too and is going to get even better!

| first the chances of our target being John Sutton is next to zero...
second this bagging of him is absolute bull poop!
Sutton is one of the most naturally gifted footballers in the NRL, he has the ability to ghost through the line, and his timing of the pass is sublime... I have seen him turn games in favour of the bunnies almost single handed!
He has flaws in his game... he is not the best kicker of a ball in the league... he can sometimes drift out of a game and looks very laconic in his approach... In the right set up he is a devastating player.
he reminds me of Nigel Wright.. but with perhaps a bit more defence to his game than Nigel had.
