| Quote: Sandal Wild Cat "If i could choose to have either Dick Wright or Sir Rodney Walker in charge of building a stadium for my rugby league club i can honestly say i know which one I would rather have in charge.
In all fairness it's arguable if Cas are really any further down the road than us, yes they have outline planning permission, but don't have detailed architectural designs drawn up as we do, and all being well we should have our outline permission for the spring. The same time Cas are ready to submit for final planning permission.
Rivalries aside i do hope it works out for them, we need our derby games!!'"
Cas have 3 different set of detailed designs, that's the choice at the minute for the board, they're deciding which of the 3 to pick and the winning design wins the contract. The fact Cas will be going for full permission at the same time Wakefield are going for outline shows Cas are still between 3-6 months in front, but it really is a great job done by the Wakefield stadium trust to get as far as they have so fast, but one question I have (which TRB or someone might be able to answer) has their been a feasibility study and ground testing to see if the site can actually be built on (safety wise)?
Let's hope both teams get their stadiums and stick it to the RFL by being the only 2 clubs in the league with brand new stadiums owned by the clubs (or a committee dedicated to the club)

It's been explained an hundred times on Virtual Terrace .
In a nutshell it's all about Location and the threat of a one sided merger like the Huddersfield/Sheffield fiasco.

Where? All of the images I've seen are virtually the same as we've put in our OUTLINE planning permission? If you had blueprints of where everything in the stadium is going to be, I'd agree. But you don't and neither do we.

Sorry to be the one to correct you mate, but we actually have four different companies going for the contract. Secondly, Wakefield are less than that behind. They are submitting outline planning permission this week which has an approximate turnaround time of 8-14 weeks, which is 2-3 months. They are not that far behind and they are catching up. If anything, they will be applying for full planning permission around the same time as us if they get their finger out and we don't. In fact, I'm more worried by the lack of Cas news by the day. We were told that we would have an announcement on the company that has been awarded a contract hopefully prior to Christmas. I understand each concept design needs diligence and going over in a fine toothcomb, but the fact that no announcement has appeared yet makes me worried. We should be aiming to get the appointment done quickly, the detailed designs done quickly and the submission of the reserved matters application by spring.

Total garbage, the start of this project was announced around May time, that's 7 months ago. You can be sure that plenty of work was done in the background in the lead up to that. Since the Thornes Park project collapsed and the seeds of the Newmarket project where planted their couldn't been much time to even consider a move over there.

You may be going for detailed planning around the same time as us - but you do NOT have detailed plans as yet - these will drawn up by the winning company.
The ground was remediated many years ago. It has been tested throughout this year and is entirely suitable for the purpose intended.
Good luck!

Thats one of a few DLA presented on sat & again to the press yesterday.'"
That's not what I meant. That is no different from ours, for example
What I meant was structural drawings with heights, widths, of every room, and of every part of the stadium and what office is where, etc. Proper DETAILED drawings.

Neither us nor wakey are reliant on the council so in that way the economic downturn doesnt effect us, wakey wouldnt have a ground in cas and cas wouldnt have a ground in wakey, so we are left with putting one in the middle but that could still lose fans for both teams and in the end there would be only one team surviving, so we would end up with rl losing one of the few teams that could support sl rugby.
Not only that but both projects are so far down the road, that to start again would mean we would miss the franchise deadline for certain, and the whole point of the new stadiumsbeing finished as quickly is possible is for a franchise.
The outcome of a shared stadium is that one team will die, possibley both.
On the outside it would seem to me that you should move into saints new stadium as it means that you wouldnt be tenants ofafootball club and you and saints could share the running costs. How viable does this idea seem to you?
