Top six 2005 - Trinity.: |
|
| This will be a massive season for the likes of Annakin, Walshaw, Wildie and trout. They need to step up or it's likely they will be looking at contracts out of SL 2015. I think every one of them has the potential to step up to regular SL so looking forward to seeing how they go.

Didn't John Harbin when he was coach, during a team brief to the younger players that included Ellis and Hudson, explain to them that some of them have the potential to play at international level.
When someone asked who that would be, think Harbin said that it was up to them how far they went.

I think that's almost standard motivation talk from the coach, designed to focus minds and to install belief in a group of players usually finished of by saying that "there are some players here that could go all the way", making all of those present think that it could be them, if they put in the work ?
Of course, the coach will already have a good idea who will make it but, the can always be a surprise package.

Think it also helped when he took them round some factories to show them how lucky they were to be playing a sport for money, instead of slogging it out 5, 6 even 7 days a week.

could argue that rugby league is as physically slogging as a job.... though granted they're living the dream of many!

Give over. It's playing out for a living certainly at this time of year they are putting in tons of work but then again the rewards for many are fantastic, certainly better paid than an office or factory job and with it being a short career I have no problem with that.

| exactly though - £80,000 a year for twelve years? give me £20,000 a year from 18-65 any day.
Especially considering the battering they'll take - you've only to look at Tom Van Vollenhoven these days to realise the aches and pains they'll develop!
Though I admit I wouldn't mind playing pro rugby league either

I'd rather earn the extra £20k in just 12 years and use the copious amount of spare time during that period to learn a trade/skill/subject to then earn £20k a year from 30 - 65.
Yes its a short career, but they're still capable or working once they retire.

| Spotted some Twitter chatter over the weekend of Bosc and Baile to us; I'd be happy with Bosc and whilst I'm not sure we need JPB, he would be a welcome addition to a very thin squad.
If Bosc is true, that would be our HB's sorted - still in need of a prop or two though.

Where did the twitter chatter originate?
Is Bosc a scrum half I thought he was a stand off? Although nowadays it's no longer so specialised (e.g Sinfield at scrum half for England) so we've got lots of experience between Bosc and Sykes and great kicking options in the team with them two plus Lee Smith!
Think Bosc would be good and JPB could play on the wing for us couldn't he? as well as provide cover at centre or even second row if needed? He's got good utility value and hopefully would be cheap. Hope both rumours are true...
Bizarrely someone has hacked into Wikipedia...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Bosc
Bosc has signed to play for St.Helens on a 2 year deal. Although Bosc was off contract in 2013, Lance Hohaia has agreed to move to Catalans for the last two years of his four year contract with St.Helens. Bosc has also agreed to star in Panto with Dynamo, Magician Impossible, where he will magically morph himself into a Lance Hodeho clone for his contract with Saints. Rumour has it he's the new Doctor Who, too, and the bloke the BBC hired will be going to French telly to star in Le Médecin Qui.

| Can't honestly believe it's either of the French duo, I'd suggest it would cost a fortune in resettlement fees.
