Bit extreme, I was well lathered by the time I got into the ground but never felt the need to start fighting/throwing things. Ban the morons would be a better solution.

Thats the big problem, why should you not have a drink to ease the pain of the next 80mins.

I wonder if Glover will demand that we get half of the Wheldon Road end? It only seemed fair that Cas fans took that for their own ten years ago. Fans are just about segregated at every SL stadium now why do we have to be the Tony Blair pastiche club?

You do know there is no segregation at Wheldon Road so you are in fact free to stand in the WRE, right?

Quote: Lupset_Airport "I thought it was going to be until Cas kicked up a fuss about it.'"

Cas merely pointed out that selling "general admission" tickets that weren't in fact general admission is in fact, illegal.

The problem Wakefield had was announcing it 2 days before the game, if it was before tickets went on sale it wouldn't have been a problem, nor would there have been as big of a problem if they said nothing and let fans mingle like they have for decades.

There was none at Wakefield tonight, hence the trouble. But if fans had mingled even more freely, which would have happened without the go North campaign, then the spats would have been far worse, when the fans rushed each other tonight they mainly ran into the backs of their fellow supporters and the few at the front met the scant but heroic stewards. Up until 2003 Wakefield used to share the Wheldon Road End with Cas without really segregating as such, the reason we don't now is that it got too volatile, in and outside that stand! Tonight was always going to be a continuation of that.

My main point is every SL ground now sees home and away fans occupying different sides of the ground, so why should there be so much pressure on Wakefield to let away fans have the pick of the stands?

If I remember rightly there have been announcements at the Jungle for fans not to swap ends at half time.

I'm afraid I can't agree with that. Segregation is a last resort if you have lost control, a la Fussball. Deliberately grouping together sets of fans increases the tension and likelihood of trouble. People resist being herded and restricted, and putting all the idiots in one place in close proximity to each other is a mistake.

Segregation at BV just won't work due to it's layout and design. The only way it can work is in a purpose-built stadium or one with discrete stands or areas. If you start fencing off parts of BV you have further safety issues with exits etc.

Make no mistake, the problems last night were caused by idiots and alcohol. This was exacerbated by the half-hearted and failed attempt to segregate. There was no way this could have been policed effectively.

With hindsight, the club made mistakes and were proved to be a little naive. It is a sad day in the history of the club and it's reputation has been gravely damaged. Firm action is required to show the public that there will be not repeat of these scenes and that BV is a safe and friendly place to come and watch RL.

The fuss made over the poorly worded allocation instructions combined with reactions on a, rather unhealthy, exclusive internet forum created a 'you can't tell us what to do' attitude in the small minds of the undesirable few. The on-running tensions over stadia and survival in SL have also had an influence.

At a time when the future of WTWRLFC was looking increasingly rosy this will be a setback and a stain on its reputation.

Should Newmarket happen, I hope that there will be at least one unsegregated, alcohol-free, family stand.

Surly the club should have seen this coming especially given the late ko plus wakefield fans were figjting with each other at London punches were thrown in the stand I ended up with someone dressed as a nun on his back after taking a swing and missing in between the seats someone needs to get a grip and fast

I always go in the north stand but not last night, it was blindingly obvious there would be trouble and for the club not to realise that is crazy. You can never segregate Belle Vue its not built that way, if and when we move to Newmarket fine , but leave it alone for now.
