The Administrator's job is to get the best possible result for the company's creditors, their job is not to maintain Wakey's first team squad.

Blaming the Administrators misses the point that, without the Administration process, Wakefield would be in compulsory liquidation, all the contracts would have been void and ALL the players would have walked to other clubs. You wouldn't have a club at all, at least this way the club still has a chance.

Trading any company in Administration is costly and there are bills to be paid. They need to find cash from somewhere and, in the absence of an immediate sale of the club, that has come from player sales.

FWIW I still think all this will be for the best in the long run as far as Wakey are concerned; the way the club was being run was completely unsustainable and something drastic needed to happen.

All true fans of RL will be deeply concerned at what is happening at Wakey. There is little info coming out explaining the need to sell Obst & Ferguson and either the adminstrator or the new owner should address this as a matter of urgency to calm the fan's fears.
You deserve better than to be kept in the dark.

It is though as selling the best players means lowering the value of the club to a potential investor and therefore lowering the amount for creditors. Selling players only benefiting the creditors if a transfer fee is being paid that is more than the value an investor has put on them.

It would be very interesting to see a list of creditors as it seems that we owe more people than just HMRC a bit of money. At the moment the administrators seem to be acting as if this is a liquidation. It would seem that Mr Glovers bid is basically zero, which taking into account redundancy costs and the fact we have no assets and a bleak outlook to make a profit is about right.

Its hard to feel sympathy for the club when so many of its supporters have their heads up their @rse claiming this is all a RFL conspiracy.
Even more annoying are the claims that the rest of rugby league is allowing one of its member clubs to go to the wall.
The cold hard facts are that mismanaged clubs (member clubs or not) will go under if they fail to deliver on financial promises, and the majority of the remaining clubs will have to trade on a shoestring budget making ends meet the best they can. If this means picking up players on the cheap then so be-it, Wakefield have happily expolited similar opportunities in the past.

I agree with FeartheVee's comment that there are positives to be taken from the administration route but your potential new owner hasnt helped with instilling any positivity into matters by making statements that he clearly cannot back up.

Shrewd piece of work from Shudds, just like with Brough, they now don’t have to get into a bidding war come the end of the season.

As with Hull FC, there’s no sentiment in SL, it’s a dog eat dog world, however, to the posters likening it to when we’ve picked up players in the past, Widnes, Cas etc, there is a glaring difference. We haven’t been relegated, making all contracts null & void.

We’ve just been shafted by the previous owners, with the RFL looking happily on.

Most of the RFL were probably off work yesterday. I had an out of office reply from one of the backroom staff on Friday, saying they were away for the Millennium Magic weekend, and would be back in the office on Tuesday. Today is probably the earliest possibility for a meeting with Mr Glover round a table rather than a hotel bar in Cardiff. Unfortunate to say the least that the Administrator has been pro-active in the meantime.
