Quote: Fordy "The £350k is Creditors that need paying. The savings made will help us to be more sustainable going forward but that £350k still needs paying.

Having said that, the fact that a large percentage of the "debt" is Directors loans is good news (unless you're one of those Directors!) and as you say puts us in a similar situation to lots of clubs. The problem is, as I see it, that we don't have anyone who can put their hand any deeper into their pockets to pay those creditors, whereas other clubs do have people who are able to just add more funds when needed.'"

This! Sums it up better then anyone else

Spot on Fordy.

Just because a large amount of our debt is Director's Loans does not mean that the debt does not exist or will go away. It will still show as a £1.6m liability on the Balance Sheet. Unless the Director's write off the loans, and why should they, the loans still have to be repaid at some time.

We still have immediate creditors to pay and this is urgent. If we don't renew memberships, join Club 1873 and sign up to Foxy Bingo in the few months then the Club will have no alternative but to sell more players which is the last thing we need when next season is so important to our Super League future.

We will have a team in Super League 2014, there is no doubt whatsover about that. It's the quality or otherwise of the team that we can all help determine.

Hope the club can settle for 2 out of 3 in my case. Not buying a season ticket not because I don't want to but because it's not worth it for me personally. Nothing to do with cost just don't get to enough games nowadays.

Whilst I umderstand the need to sign up to Foxy and buy season tickets to help with the £350k short fall, I thought club 1873 money was ring fenced to go into junior development. Is this no longer the case?

You could always purchase the set of six ticket for £100.

Just remember it is the lets say the 2500 season ticket holders who purchased them within the last two years who you will need to convince to renew not the 1500 who would buy regardless. With the news emanating from the club and this forum should they read it will think I would rather wait to see the sort of team we have and how competitive they are rather than buy a season ticket and finding out we are like Salford this season. These are the ones you need to convince not those on the forum.

The cost of running the junior set up has always been way more than the money brought in by 1873 - so the question is irrelevant.

That cost includes all admin / coaches / training facilities etc.. not just player contracts.

I think you make a good point here; whilst MC's honesty about our situation is a refreshing change and will probably have a ring of familiarity to around 50% of SL Chairmen, it could be time to start changing the tone of the conversation a bit. If the wider (non diehard) Wakefield public start hearing some positive stuff about the future of the club under new, transparent, sensible stewardship, they may be more inclined to get on board.

And when I say positive, I don't mean the 'these deals won't last forever' double-glazing kind of positivity, that was the trademark under AG; "we're doing it tough and we need your help" is probably about right - "we'll sell all the players if you don't get on board," not so much.

Having helped out at Salford last year every payday was a nightmare. It is not just the players wages you have to find each month, but also the payments to The tax man. In the months when there is very little income coming in, this is a nightmare as your debt to the taxman start to build again. I am not trying to be negative, just pointing out how things are. But in my opinion Wakey have some of the best and most loyal fans around, so your club needs revenue streams NOW. Buy your season tickets, and whatever else brings money into your club, and do it now. Good luck, and see you next year.

Thats not what he asked so it is relevent!

Pretty sure he meant does ALL the money raised by club 1873 go towards junior development or is it/can it be used in other areas? Whether the junior development is supplemented by other funds isn't the issue, but does all that money raised go to the kids or has some payed the bills?

None has paid any bills as there has always been a substantial shortfall to cover junior development.
