You're kidding right? Physical intimidation and threat is a massive part of the game, Justin Poore could've used a waft from his mum's pinny and cleaned him out.
I'm not a fan of what Poore did, I don't think rugby league us about that. However there has to be a threat there, Farrell has none, and much as my instinct is to admonish Poore for letting his side down I think his actions were 100% understandable.
As for Crosby, he got stuck in and threw punches at people on the floor. That's cowardice in my book.

| Apart from the right and wrongs of the Poore/Farrell issue.
Wakefield were a shambles until Poore was sent off. Following that every Wakefield player upped his game. They were never going to win as Wigan scored by going wide all match, as they did when Trin had 13 out there.
Nine tries to four was a fair reflection I thought but Wakefield scored some good tries.
It was a scrappy game and a decisions lottery with Mr Hicks in charge.
Wigan's missed conversions kept the score below 50 which was fair enough.

| If you hold play on your Sky remote it goes into slow motion. Farrell gives Poore a face rub as part of the tackle, then a knee towards the head/shoulder followed by marking his ground by putting his foot forward aggressively. That is then followed up by the attempt to strike Poore, then summary justice is served up.
No win situation for Poore, but better to just take it rather than let your team mates down this week, and no doubt in subsequent weeks. Wilkes is not in good form, Raleigh is on his way back from a fair layoff and isn't there yet, so even more reason for Poore to control himself better.
The Mellars hit looks worse than it was, it's a shoulder contact on a player that could quite easily have got the ball and probably would have had Mellars not been pressuring. I don't expect any further action on that one.

Fair comment I'd say. Wigan had to be off their game and Wakey on their best form. Tomkins was brilliant.

| Farrell was trying to be niggly and aggressive on the floor, unfortunately for him he messed with the wrong bloke. Absolutely lovely knockout punch, pity thats a red card these days imo.
There was no need for Farrell to be that aggressive on the floor, pulling, putting extra weight on etc.. opefully he learns from it.

| RFL disciplinary will decide that Poore had some dirt on his shirt and Farrel clearly tried to brush it off, at this point Poore punches him for no reason.
Followed by Crosby having a nervous twitch in his right arm while trying to help Poore back to his feet.

| It's a pity he will get a ban but in a team that needs a tough rough front rower I'm happy for Pooreto keep playing the same way.
One day someone ewill try to take Smith out late.Hull tried a few. We need to know someone will protect him.
The others need to get in a cool him down when it's not needed.

| Quote: bren2k "What happened with the sending off - justified?'"
Not seen a replay yet or read any reports (and only got to this point in the thread so could be repeated elsewhere, but as I saw it:
Something went on in the tackle, leading to either a shove or punch from Farrel. Poore retaliated and dropped Farrel with a cracker. Small melee ensued, we received penalty and Poore got the red.
If Farrel threw a punch then he deserved the same punishment as Poore, if he shoved then probably not. I personally don't agree with red cards for 1 on 1 fisticuffs, but that seems to be the way of the world this year so it was fair enough. How Farrell got away with only conceding a penalty I am not sure.
On the whole, as is fairly common when a man gets sent off (Like with Leeds last week) it probably galvanised us and helped to up our game as at that point if could have easily turned into Hull KR part 2 for Wigan and all credit to the lads they dug in and had a real go, I am sure many sides would have buckled so they deserve praise for that. 2 very tired teams in the last quarter though, and given the pace that Wigan had we did well to compete with them for the majority of the game other than a lull mid way through the game.
I don't think that Smith looked fit in the 2nd half and obviously loosing Mathers didn't help (or look good). Aiton played really well, Annakin had another good game.

| Just watched it on sl fulltime. Farrell messes about in the tackle. Then fires his knee into poores head/face. I dont condone poores reaction. But for me that knee is much more dangerous than poores punch. Farrell seems to have some gareth hock in him.

| I've seen the replay myself now and it looks harsh to single Poore out.
Farrell is one of the worst offenders of many in the Wigan team who do a bit of roughing up during the tackle - he clearly puts his fore-arm in Poore's face whilst he's on the floor, then tries to push him around whilst he's getting up. Poore objected, Farrel grabbed a handful of shirt and tried to throw a short punch - Poore then gets him with the now legendary 'Five Point Palm Exploding Head Technique.'
I would hope that given the extreme provocation he was subjected to, the panel will see sense and judge that the sending off was sufficient.

Coughed the ball up 3 times in the tackle got a penalty each time scored off 2 .he's over protected by officials and gets away with things others would be penalized. When he gathered the kick near the end he led with his feet and knees high but nothing.........but then it is sir Tomkins of RFL.

Poor comment, excuse the pun. As far as I can tell he was sent off for defending himself with a better punch than his attacker. As for the "again" comment, are you really including that boxing day friendly, I mean really.

He's no angel. However he was the beating heart for most of the good hat Wigan produced. He is world class and it showed. Pretty much beat us on his own.
