Quote: TrinitarianWF2 "What Alf posted was true.

A group of investors have bought 66% of the rights to the stadium/MUGA from Yorkcourts respect.
Yorkcourt will still own 33% of the rights.

From our point of view this is a great thing. More money is being pumped into the scheme. After all the scheme as a whole is redundant without the stadium, therefore any monies being put into this part of the deal (which was always a drain from the point of view of the developer) will ulimately show how viable the scheme as a whole will be.

After all the stadium is/has always been the sweetener, something Yorkcourt have had to include to meet the special requirements, if someone wants to put 66% of this up (66% of £15,000,000
All this has done from our point of view is make it even more likely that the stadium development will happen on time. All of a sudden there is more money floating around the scheme, so the last hope of the bitter and twisted who wanted this to fail, the fact that YCP had no access to funding, has now been removed. Things will likely start to move on at a good pace from early february and news will likely be out before easter than GH is not viable and Cas will stay at a redeveloped WR, which I feel is the best option for them anyway. There is no chance they will ever move to NM, it would finish the club off.

The only thing that might change is that over time their may be even more facilities around that area popping up, making the place a proper little hive of activity.

All sounds good, good to hear WMDC backing the community stadium and its associated facilities which are much needed for the district. Remember it's not just RL facilities its providing but sports facilities for everybody in the district. Talking to a few mates from the town of Ossett who can't wait to use the facilities and are glad it's been built in the middle of the WMDC area so easy for everybody in the district to get to.

I dont know how much difference this will make to your proposed development but I was speaking with a close friend of mine who is on the Wakefield Planning Committee. He advised me that the due to the much advertised financial cutbacks, the proposed £2m "gift" to both Castleford and yourselves to assist in the build of new stadium is no longer available as the monies have now been re-allocated.

The council realise that Newmarket is the only chance it will get to gain the required community sport & recreation facilities that the area desperately need for minimal outlay. They will give it the necessary backing to ensure its success. The future is bright..

From the point of view of WMDC & Newmarket: There has been no change, nor will there be. WMDC are committed to the funding in the 106. The deals already been done, monies transferred, stakehold taken.

Although changes to the deal are not out of the question. If Cas aren't going to relocate then they have no use for the money they were offered, hence it should be centralized with the rest of the money going to new council facilities for the WHOLE OF THE DISTRICT.

In my eyes it was our money anyway.

Although if anyones looking for a laugh, read the other CT forum. They're comparing a backlash against WMDC funding fromm CT fans to the Arab springs of 2010!

It's been re-allocated alright and is more like an investment than a gift

I can see the bitterness fron sections of both supporters coming back over stadium issues which was created in the first place by the rfl. Wakefield have had many years of trouble due to bad management but thank goodness stability at the top now so hopefully you can settle ,maybe NM. Cas have pumped a lot of money which into GH which maybe wasted.
The rfl owe respect to both clubs for the effort that both clubs have put in over the years. Both clubs can survive and move on especially if they work together at management level. Cas have some funds if they sell the ground and maybe could invest this if they moved into NM protecting both clubs.

Over the years the stadium issue has detracted from my overall enjoyment of the game.
It has caused anxiety and undue pressure amongst fans and management alike.
I never quite understood how clubs were expected to come up with the millions necessary and at the same time run a professional outfit.
To me the important thing was always the activity on the field.
Having said that I cannot now wait to take my seat at the first match at Newmarket in The Neil Fox stand.

I'm sure bigalf will spin this to much applause on the nutjob forum, but anyone who didn't see this coming doesn't know much about how these developments work; there were always going to be partners involved once the planning issue was resolved - it's how these mahoosive and very costly developments are delivered.

It'll be interesting to watch over the coming months - with serious private cash being injected and talk of WMDC switching their position from guaranteeing a loan to becoming a stakeholder, the whole thing should take on a bit of momentum; I can't wait to see the first pictures of Andrew Glover in front of a digger - hopefully one that's actually doing some digging.

OK, maybe too much Christmas frivolity.
I was just commenting on your "can't wait to take my seat" part............implying I felt the same way and that my seat may be near the one you are wanting.
