| Quote Khlav Kalash="Khlav Kalash"Unless the club are looking to make room by releasing one of the contracted overseas players. If so it would provide a little substance to the apparent contract offer to Jeffries from Cronulla.'"
It does add weight to th rumour but does it make sense for us to let one of our more creative players got and replace him with a prop. I can only see this to be a benifit to the club if with have 2 British halfbacks lined up to come in possibly Briggs and Moore.

| So that means that with Morrison, Obst, Millard and Jeffries we have 1 space left providing we havn't signed Parker and if we have signed Parker then we are full and this means that there is no room for Leano or any other overseas players.

There was a rumbling during Jeffries first stint that he was looking to obtain British Citizenship, I’m sure both Jeffries and Obst would qualify under residency residency, which would take them off Quota, however I don’t know if this would then make them exempt under the same regulations that allow Blanch, Korkidas and Henderson to be exempt from the non-fed status.

From reading the rules it appears to me that residency doesn't matter. It seems that to qualify as a home grown player you must have been trained for at least 3 years up until the age of 21 in Britain so if an Aussie came over at 17 then he would not count as an overseas player.
Henderson doesn't count on the quota because he was at the club before 2006 and i think this is possibly the same for Korky.
I am not sure why Blanch doesn't count on the quota, it may be something to do with him playing for Ireland but i am not sure.

As far as I’m aware, any player who has an EU passport (or is from a KOLPAK nation) who was playing in the UK before Feb 2007 is exempt from the non-federation rules. Blanch has represented Ireland and was at Cas in 05/06. This, I presume, is the reason for his exemption.
It’s this ruling that could affect Jeffires and Obst, if they take British Citizenship, they’ll be able to apply for a British Passport and were playing in the UK before the afore mentioned date. Of course the date that British Citizenship is obtained could be the overriding factor, but it would be interesting to see these possibilities to pan out.

| Smoke and fire re Luke Gale or putting 2 and 2 together and getting many. I'm sure I saw somewhere that he'd signed a long term deal and we wouldn't be paying a fee. How many more will be leaving? - reference Barry McD's comments.

korkidas is greek nationality having played for greece (and captained... yes we have an international captain )
blanch is irish due to playing for ireland in the world cup, henderson is scottish due to playing for scotland ( and i think captaining them as brough has realised he isnt scottish now theres no world cup)
im sure millard is some south sea islander nationality due to heritage. same with latu, our three aussies are morrison, jeffries and the other was tronc as far as im aware
obst doesnt count as a quota player because he was at the club before the new quota system was enforced, however, if he was to sign for another club then he would count as a quota player. this is my understanding .... correct me if im wrong though.

I think you are wrong I'm afraid.
Obst is a quota player as he is Australian (doesn't matter how long he has been here).
Millard I believe is quota also.
Korki and Blanch are exempt so you're right there. Hendo I believe is classed as British as he was born in Torquay (I think) but not sure how he fits with non-fed trained.
My understanding for next year is that we have
Morrison (quota)
Jeffries (quota)
Obst (quota)
Millard (quota)
I believe that leaves us with one space but who fills it out of Jesse Joe Parker, Charlie Leaeno, or someone else is anybodys guess at the moment.
