Have been a life long labour supporter but am concerned at this toe the party line comment.
I am certainly not happy with the lack of minutes taken and feel that Messrs Box and Walker have answers to the questions which have been raised.
It is totally wrong for people in power to use their position to exert influence on their colleagues.
I would look very favourably on either someone breaking ranks or a member of the Conservative party seeking answers, after all Eric Pickles was the SOS when the s106 was incorporated.
It would restore my confidence in our politicians if they would provide the answers to the questions being raised.
Why does Mr Box need 7 days to give an answer and his past comments of not releasing information on the grounds that it should not be in the public domain is laughable.
Perhaps his own leader should be encouraged to join in the debate.

This is a fast paced media world, 7 days will mean more than enough time for it to be forgotten, just look at the Reddit front page or twitter for the next 24 hours to see quite how fast it moves!

Out of interest who does Box report to? The buck can't possibly stop with him, surely he must have to inform his seniors regarding these issues that are being thrown at his feet?

In fact FT name the councillor and get it on Twitter and Facebook too.....the more this thing has been gonee into the more it stinks !!!!

This is ridiculous for Box to pool all the messages to councillors and respond after seven days. If I went to my councillor with a problem, I would be pretty sickened off if they told me that they would have to see the boss first before they could help me. Is this another indication of his dictatorial style of leadership? I asked for my own councillor's stance on the issue, NOT Box's stance. We all know that. THE MAN MUST BE EXPOSED, AND QUICK!!!

I appreciate the sentiment, however the term "tow the party line" is my comment and not this councillors, he actually stated that "he had been told to forward any correspondence regarding Newmarket to Peter Box for him to respond to" and that instruction had been sent to all councillors.
It wouldn't take much to work out which councillor it was anyway as there aren't many wards that have 2 Tory councillors with one Labour.

Jeez did you not realise Box reports to no one ,he is at the top, he has ultimate power. MP or ministers can't do a thing at all they have no power over him whatsoever. That is why he is totally opposed to an elected mayor for the region.

There are only 5 ways in which he can be removed as far as I can think of.

1. He can be removed by legal means if he is found guilty of any wrong doing

2. He could be removed if the council was deemed not fit for purpose as per Rotherham. Again serious legal wrong doings would need to be proven.

3. He is elected by his own labour councillors and as I understand it he is never opposed. So fat chance of that lot doing anything.

4. Removed by the public either by loosing his own seat in his 4 yearly election cycle or the labour party loosing their majority in the council. Even less chance due to Wakefield public being genetically engineered to vote Labour no matter what.

5. He gets a visit from the grim reaper

Please anyone who can add any other ways we can get rid please contribute.

Yes that would be as points 1 or 2.

You know I am far from an expert on this but it would have to be very serious I would think, not just a slip up. I would also suspect it would have to shown to a deliberate or reckless error.
I can only think of two examples were the government stepped in to take control and that's Dony and Rotherham. So I would imagine those are the type of serious situations it may take.

Normally if a council leader had been getting away with things like Box all these years and running down the City. He would have been voted out long ago in the vast majority of places in the UK. That's not ever going to happen in wakey, he can basically do anything he is labour he will always win. Perhaps that's were the system fails. In Spain locally elected leaders are only allowed two terms and can never serve again

Bit unfair to label all Wakefield public to be genettically engineered to vote Labour, Prince. I'm a very strong socialist but would never vote Labour in Wakefield local elections whilst ever Box is present.
