Great return for TJ.
Scored 3 and but for being unselfish and giving his team mates a couple, would have had 5.
Not too many questions asked of him in defence but, one excellent take from a high crossfield kick and his last "length of the field" effort, he looked to be jogging but was far to quick for any of the Fax players.
Against weaker opposition, Pauli Pauli looked like a monster and scored 2 try's with half the Fax defence still trying to tackle him.

| What was interesting for me today was to compare Hampshire and Miller.
I really think there is now strong competition for the stand off shirt. I thought Hampshire looks to have a slightly better passing game. His passes looked crisp and more accurate than Miller. I also thought Hampshire showed a little more in his kicking game.
Many seem to think Miller/Finn will be our HB pairing, but I,m not too sure on that.

Interesting point to make is that. I like Ryan Hampshire. I agree his passings seems crisper and executed slightly better than Miller. From what I have seen I think first choice hb so far for me are Finn and Hampshire. Be interesting to see what happens v Huddersfield

I like Hampshire but I think he tried too hard today. Of his 3 in play kicks 2 went straight to the wing man and one was a pretty good kick into the 10. I think that’s an area that needs improvement. He looked solid and busy today and his passing I definitely agree is crisp and accurate. I don’t think it helped bringing him and ackroyd on in the half’s together and we lost some direction until Finn came back on. I expect we’ll see a lot more from Hampshire as the pre season goes on.

| Was at the game today, Keegan Hirst got man of match, not for me, Liam Finn by a mile. First half he ran the show, second half he was subbed bu5 when he reappeared instantly created a try for Tom Johnstone. Starting halves for me will be Finn and Millar. Pauli Pauli went well , Johnstone looked reasonably sharp, Arundel solid in the centre, great try from him taking a pass from Millar. Overall a good performance but Halifax did not offer a lot. 62-0 about right.

| I thought Miller had the better half. I hope Hampshire as a good season but Miller deserves to start the season as first choice

| Oh the headaches that are Chris Chesters team selections. It will be interesting to see what he goes with of the Huddersfield game.

| Miller is a great talent, but he does seem to struggle a bit during the colder months

| I thought horro went really well
Going off today I'm going to assume that horro and Kirmond are going to interchange for the right side back row, I think that will be a very strong move and change of direction for us

| Spoke to Jordan after the game, asked him how he felt, his reply was, I didn’t need to get my second wind, which hopefully spans across the team after a good pre season

Jordan went well today. Some good footwork at the line and Good leg drives for yards. Pleased for him.

| I'll be honest thinking about it overnight I hated that game yesterday. They do nothing but lull teams into a false sense of security imho and leave the team unmotivated. Perverse as it sounds I'd rather us lose as that tends to fire teams up and sets a platform.
If we treat it as a glorified training game then fine but if we think it gives any idea how well we will go against the misters we are in for a rude awakening!
We have got quite good of late but we must never lose that underdog spirit - it's us against the world and nobody is going to lay down and take it from oiks like us.
I'm not being pessimistic but they are waiting for us this season and in that respect yesterday didn't help other than give a few players a run out.
I'm worried about our first game in particular, the moment I saw it I thought it might be trouble. We need to be super up for it imho, we don't have to win it but we have to look competitive.

| Agree with you Vastman, although I do think we will be competitive this season. Yesterday’s game was nothing more than a training exercise for us. We never got out of second gear. The team spirit looked good and defensively we were sound. The players couldn’t do any more than thrash the team in front of them. Huddersfield will be a better test. I will say though if Finn and Millar had played against Leeds on Boxing Day we would have beaten them.
