| As I've said all along, their best option would be to flog WR, pay off their debts, trouser the remaining funds and move into NM with a healthy cash reserve; I still believe that's what will happen.

I think we would drop out of SL first. Moving to NM would be the begginning of the end IMO.

That would be the most dramatic and ridiculous example of cutting ones nose off to spite ones face but yes, I suppose it's an option.

I think under RW you may well have done that, he was at the end of his tenure and had his ego to protect; defiant to the valiant end!!
Ferres and France (if involved) would have a very different view, so i would expect e change in tack to the constant talking up of the situation (a la RW) to a more honest approach.
Its then up to the fans to get on board and see where it takes you.

| As a Wakefield fan it has been pretty sad to see that local rivalry has now become more vindictive. This year as a club the way we build up the match at ours caused friction and I think the game itself should create this not with the board adding fuel to the fire. But that has been done to death.
Moving forward the only thing we need to look at is how to make rugby league in the Wakefield district stronger. This area has been a hot bed for quality rugby players, Westwood, Burrows, Ellis etc.
The teams Wakefield, Cas ,Fev don't have the glamour of the big clubs and we also don't have the population. So we need to stand together. Really what does it matter what the stadium is called "Wakefield District Stadium" seems appropriate this doesn't mean that it is Wakefield's or Cas's but it is for teams in the Wakfield district. If this gives the three team mentioned a better chance of top flight lets not be too precious.
It maybe that Richard Wright fought against this but the boards of the teams need to be grown up and work together. Three team paying rent may help avoid the trouble Salford seem to be in. The boards of the three teams mentioned need to talk to each other and leave there egos at home and let thier head rule their hearts.
I will always enjoy beating Cas but don't want to see them drop down or fold. If both team can find something toegether that can help with the limited finances or improve the prospects for both clubs let do it. If Fev think that playing in this stadium can help great too.
Richard Wright created some of this due to his ego but let move on and forward for the good of Wakefield district.
Name of the stadium? It really doesn't matter. Who gets the high ground by whose stadium was it first going to be? It really doesn't matter. Will the clubs benefit with attendances and chance of playing in the top tier? It does matter. Will sharing a stadium stop the situation at Salford with sharing stadiums cost? That does matter.
Merger? No thanks we are two proud individual clubs.

The sentiment of your post is right just not the practicality IMO.
Name of the stadium? it does matter, because 1) cas are reluctant to share 2) cas are reluctant to be classed as wakefield 3) cas would be less reluctant to share a ground called wakefield whatever stadium, which as it is a stadium for the district of wakefield it should be called.
Will the clubs benefit? no some may not if their supporters are reluctant to go.
Merger? personally i think there is a way round this, however to the people that can only see black and white; two dominant west yorkshire clubs with strong identities playing out of the same ground, little chance of a merger between the two, but does that sound like us and cas?

| The stadium name should be The Wakefield Community Stadium as that's what it is, it shouldn't be called Newmarket Stadium just because Cas don't want "Wakefield" in the name!

| All very hypothetical of course because there is no stadium at Newmarket and when/if there is, it won't be any time soon.

Now consider what view you would take if a "polecat troll" had come on the cas forum and suggested that about GH.
Most things on a forum are hypothetical, you should know that by now.
Don't turn a decent thread into one that rapidly heads down hill because you receive a load of verbal.
I though you were better than that.

| Wakefield does indeed have the population to sustain a big club.
2001 census Wakefield urban area 76 666
Wigan urban area 81 203
Not much difference there.
Wakefield City 315 172
Wigan Met. 305 600
Again little difference.

| The fact that Warrington are now a big club says all you need to know about the term "big club" and what it takes to be one. Pre Halliwell Jones, the similarities between Warrington and Wakefield at that time were endless.

I was simply pointing out that you are talking about Cas Tigers moving to a stadium that hasn't even been built yet let alone talking about naming rights and what the stadium should be called. It you want to see thread head down hill take a look at this:-

| Ferres will lay it on the line that Cas are struggling, he'll ask the Fans to dig in and take up the season ticket offer, he'll offer them a view of what may happen if they don't.
IMO he'll not be telling them anything they don't already know.
Most clubs are treading a fine line at the moment, doubt it will be any worse than that, no doubt that'll not please a few on here.
