39793_1491679334.jpg "Castleford's biggest home crowd of the 1991-1992 season wasn't quite 12,000 while on average they'd sit around 6000 but the noise, the chanting and the singing just blows you away" - Tawera Nikau "Standing Tall"
"I can tell you the atmosphere was extraordinary at Wheldon Road on big days. The ground held around 15,000 people, every one of them close to the action on the field and the noise would be enough to send a rumble through the town" - Malcolm Reilly "Reilly - A Life in Rugby League":d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39793.jpg |

So Barton Willmore were never going to mention the feasibilty study fiasco or the fact that groundshare at GH is a possibilty. All the letter does is confirm to the inspector that their 1 paragraph statement in that regard is still the case.
I think you should be much more concerned about the other 31 pages of their statement.

| Quote: BIGAL1 "NT, Richard Wright and the Cas club are assisting the people who are objecting to Newmarket, should he/the club have "offered" any opinion at all.
Or should Cas have stayed out of it, seems to me Richards got a few problems with GH and should be working on that.
I suppose it depends on the old fence and what side of it you may be standing.'"
If that is the case I misunderstood, I thought he had been asked for his comments for the PI by the relevant decision-making body.
However, it's business. One company will always object to another company doing something that might endanger their long-term success.
I wouldn't worry about RW's letter - there are much bigger obstacles to NM than this!

No he's been asked for opinion by the objectors and he's spun it.
CEO of a SL club trying to stop another building a state of the art stadium, yes its business and yes NM will no doubt have hurdles to jump.
But IMO he and the Cas club are out of order.

| One thing to me sums up his actions and true intent. On being contacted to comment a fellow SL club, Wright never showed a degree of integrity. He should have contacted our club to inform us of the approach. He should also have told us what his intentions were and at the very least asked us if we were happy with what he intended to say.

All he has done is confirm what was said last year when the council asked if there was a possibility of a feasibility study and RW said we would and your then leader refused to enter into it. There is nothing in the letter that wasn't in the public arena last year so why would RW have to inform the Wakefield that he had been asked the question - after all it is nothing new.

I'm sure you'd be saying that if the shoe was on the other foot.

Can you shed any light in why he was unhappy that our club refused to participate ? A reasonable person would have expected him to be relieved that the feasibility study never progressed, after all it ended all possibilty of Cas having to play at Newmarket.

i obviously can't speak for RW however if memory serves me right the council had asked Wakey and Cas to consider a feasibility study and Ted R i believe point blank refused to take part which still beggars belief as if he and the the wakey fans had been so confident that NM was guaranteed then the study would have proved it and GH would have been dead in the water and we would have been forced to share your ground on the other hand NM may have been shot down in flames the outcome we will never know as the chap who took you to the brink of extinction refused to take part.
RW was trying to comply with the councils request he was trying to work with the council so he is hardly likely to turn round and say he was glad that you refused is he

| Not sure anyone can shed light but only theory I can come up with is. That if a study had been done from a planning point of view GH may have looked the stronger option and RW got peeved as we didn't play his game. Where it all falls flat (still theory) is they dont have have project investors and we could have been in the same situation as Cas as don't think York court properties want to invest in any project a GH.

He knew GH needed the extra funding thats the only reason he even offered the possibility of us sharing GH. Plus at the time he probably felt Peter Box would see that the criteria were such there was only one winner.
