Think we paid Wigan £18,000 for bill ashurst in1977/78 a lot of money then I think it was a club record at the time ,he fell out with the coach at Wigan think it was vince karalius .we tried to sign Steve norton first but he decided to go to hull fc so we got bill ashurst instead Steve norton was a great ball handler but bill ashurst in my opinion on another level.
