if we are depending on the surplus funds for the new ground coming from the sale of the jungle we could be in a bit of a hole because as far as i know mr fulton will be takeing most of that money, but i am not saying that the extra funds wont be coming from somwhere, it just that i as most dont know where that will be.

In light of the recession and cuts in council / government spending do you think there will be pressure from the authorities on Wakey & Cas to share a ground (build one stadium)

Been done to death mate. Both clubs have alternative sources of finance for development and minimal council funding is involved (council facilities at the Glasshoughton project).

If i could choose to have either Dick Wright or Sir Rodney Walker in charge of building a stadium for my rugby league club i can honestly say i know which one I would rather have in charge.
In all fairness it's arguable if Cas are really any further down the road than us, yes they have outline planning permission, but don't have detailed architectural designs drawn up as we do, and all being well we should have our outline permission for the spring. The same time Cas are ready to submit for final planning permission.
One scheme has been running for 14 months, one for half a decade and still to be fair nothing concrete, smoke and mirrors? If i were Wright'y i'd concentrate on his own job, because if he fails on this after all this time folk in Cas will have him at the top of the xmas tree in 2012!

Rivalries aside i do hope it works out for them, we need our derby games!!

Yes - there is pressure from some sources to move to one stadium - but that stadium has to be deliverable and, from that point of view I would be 100% sure of where my money would go.

On the wider issue - I firmly believe that Wakey should play in Wakey; Cas in Cas and Fev in Fev. The idea of one facility suiting all is a dream that cannot be fulfilled - as I do not think you can just transfer heritage of a club as you lose the very meaning of their existance.

My only take on all this is that Wakey do not lose out owing to not having a new piece of concrete - and I would wish all the other clubs success in trying to nurture their own clubs by improving the facilities for all supporters to enjoy!
