| Quote: Fishermanscap "This is just your opinion, you have no idea if Bennett thought that. It is quite incredible what some posters claim they know
Fishermanscap I guess you didn't see/hear the interview with TJ between these two internationals? TJ acknowledged that Bennett had a chat with him, explained the reasons why he wasn't picked and highlighted the areas he needed to improve upon to be a more regular international player. The strengths of Makinson (defence) over Johnstone (speed) were highlighted.

Players like Johnson are ten a penny in the,NRL.
This will be apparent when Feki a NRL reject for cas, will hold his own against your wonderboy.

Bore off, if you’re going to comment about our players, at least get their names right for a start, it’s Johnstone. Johnstone is a class finisher but his defence reading is clearly lacking. Either way, Cas or Wakey won’t be anywhere near the top 5 so even if Feki scores 30 tries it means squat

| Olpherts is a Lupset lad and a die hard Wakefield Trinity fan all his life. I would imagine his feelings are a mixture of elation and regret to night.

I don't think there's much regret mate, same with adz Milner, big wakey fan as a kid. Think stuff changes a bit when it's your career

Bloody hell youre touchy! TJ is a decent prospect for SL, but the person you’re being so critical of had a point.
His pace is second to none, in my opinion, but he really needs two excellent defenders on his inside as he gets caught ball watching far too often & far too easily to be at top drawer player at this moment in time. If he works on this, & I genuinely hope he does, then he will get a better gig. If not, then wakey get to enjoy him & no real loss to you as fans.

Like I said he’s a class finisher but his defensive reads at times are poor. He’s a very good Superleague winger who has had to come back from 2 ACL repairs. Remember speaking to a lad who is an ACL surgeon and I was intrigued to see what was worse, snapping your ACL again or doing the other one and he said it’s roughly a 90% chance if you snap your ACL that you will return to sport. Do the same one again and it drops to 80/70%. The lads had a nightmare 3 years and think he has done exceptional to be back where he is. Touchy!!! Wouldn’t you be watching that second half

Think you might have changed your comment had you read the article about him in the Yorkshire Post today. Olpherts was and STILL IS a Wakefield Trinity fan.

| Hi Steady,I agree with a lot of things you post but think you're way underestimating Tom Johnstone. To say he is merely a good prospect is, I think, underselling him by a long way.Sure, he has some defensive issues, and these can be sorted out,but playing on our wings at the moment means you're left exposed quite frequently.IMO TJ is a once in a generation player, and if he can stay fit I believe the world is his oyster.

| Tom is an outstanding winger going forwards, will score tries out of seemingly impossible situations like tonight , but for far too long now he has not been anywhere as good in his defensive reads. Not all Toms fault may I add as our sliding defence at time is non existent which leaves him in no mans land and caught out . tupou was also in the same position tonight with some poor reads ,so to me it’s not individually a problem as much as a team not working together in defence

Do you watch NRL games regularly?
Hes a good English winger in an average SL.I stand by my comment, ten a penny in the NRL.

You're entitled to your opinion, of course, although 'ten a penny' is gilding the lilly a little I feel.
was talking the other night about the 'great' (?) Martin Offiah who was a fast player in an excellent team. He couldn't defend for toffee but he stands perched on a pedestal outside Wembley.
Offiah would never score half the tries Tom does yet he was held in such high esteem.
Tom Johnstone is not yet world class but I think he will be.

Saw an interview with him saying all his family will be cheering him and Cas on and said there wouldn't be any sentiment. He also said he couldn't remember the last time wakey beat Cas and he was demanding to not be part of a side that lost that streak ! He does seem a bit of a character tbf

Yes I do, and I have not seen every NRL winger scoring ones like he did last night. I’ll stand by my comment he is a very good SL winger, who has defensive frailties. But is that him or the system that he plays in. The NRL is a far superior league with superior facilities and coaching. If some of our 10 a penny players went to the NRL, I believe due to this superior coaching and environment they would become world class. Would you say Josh Hodgson would of been a 10 a penny hooker in the NRL or John Bateman being a 10 a penny second rower. Johnstone has all the attributes to be a once in a life time winger for Wakefield, abit like Gaz Ellis coming through, you just know they’re that bit special. And going somewhere like the NRL could be the catalyst ie Ellis.

I have.
Ive seen plenty over the years scored like that at cas,as have Hull fans watching their team,as have Wigan etc.
Acrobatic tries was not invented or perfected by your wonder boy alone.
I suppose if he stays injury free the next few years then all the NRL teams will be queuing up for his signature.
Lets wait and see eh!
