There are so many differences between the way sport is funded in Australia compared to the UK that it makes comparisons very difficult.
However state and federal funding does play a huge part. Some clubs are propped up by wealthy Leagues clubs though more and more are not.
Apart from the funding and the leagues clubs I think it’s fair to say that the Australian game has always been run more as a business than the UK game.
Much bigger TV revenue also helps.
It would be nice to be them but we are not. In a way it’s surprising that SL does as well as it does when you look at the advantages the NRL has.

As per my previous comment I’m well aware why they are able to offer the pricing they do and it doesn’t matter if it was $26.5m or $26.50 in funding my comment doesn’t change...
“It would just be interesting to see how teams like Wakefield are trying to mimic the NRL deals and do we ever see Adult ticket pricing ever dropping?”
I’m not asking for £14 tickets, I just think people find it hard to justify £25 on a ticket because even with the list of reasons why teams like Melbourne are able to subsidise pricing being as long as it is, the bottom line remains the same; They charge less money to watch a better grade of rugby and in better facilities.

If you plan ahead you can get your ticket for £17.78 or worse case £22

I'm not sure that comparing prices for watching RL in Australia is relevant.
Trinity's season tickets are comparable with other clubs in the UK and we know where cheap ticket offers got us last time around
It's everyone's prerogative whether or not to watch or do what ever they want but, if we all pay 10% less than there would be a direct effect on salary cap spend so, for the club it's all about balance and maximising their income accross the board.

| Just 9% of attendances pay on the day and of these a significant proportion are away fans and not adults either so I suspect only around 3% are actually paying £25!!

You're avoiding the question.
Budget being the most important thing of all, the SL season finished on Saturday officially. That means families with bills and children to prioritise have to find £55 per month (per person) to find.
I've sorted my ticket already, so I don't have to worry but the comment at the end of last season in jest or not about selling more season tickets is absolutely laughable at these prices.
So I will reiterate it would just be interesting to see how teams like Wakefield are trying to mimic the NRL deals and do we ever see Adult ticket pricing ever dropping?

Why would you drop the current price and effectively sell the same (or hopefully improved) product for less money ?

Indeed. Not sure how anyone hopes to do what Salford did this year by selling cheaper season tickets. ATEOTD how the hell do football mad families cope.

Why would the club drop the price to a more affordable price? It's all speculation obviously but if the numbers were to increase we have more people to sell to, in the club shop, on the day in the ground and more people to market to.
Maybe I'm just not thinking about the short term enough.

Not that anyone really wants to watch them but I could currently get a season ticket at Huddersfield for £80! The question still stands, it would be interesting to see what other clubs are doing to compete with that.
This does also outline that lower prices do not mean more fans. I'm just genuinely curious about what clubs are doing to try and compete with each other on pricing and attendances.

Go get one then, you obviously have a great deal of love for the Huddersfield club.
Do you know how much money Davy pours into the club to allow them to spend up to the cap and play out of that shiny stadium, or do you think it comes from there £80 seasons tickets?
Take a look around old boy, nobody in the league is trying to compete with Hudds £5.70 a game value, they are all relatively similar pricing outside of them, maybe you should question why Hudds are devaluing the game that much that you have to ask these questions?

| The Dreadnought you may recall that one of the first things Glover did is he dropped season ticket prices to £125, this included seated tickets (I know as I sit in the East stand). I guess season ticket sales went up around 1,000 or so on prior years. We also had challenges with lots of free and rumoured fake tickets so attendances went up notably. Did we get something like 8k for Catalans at home on a Saturday in 2013 (the day I got married)?
The impact is hard to measure since Glover and Elston overspent on the squad and other things so the income didn't match expenditure.
More recently for the last game of the season against London weren't entrance prices dropped to around £15/ticket and we got a crowd of around 6k. Yet it is hard to gauge the effect due to significance of the match too.

Watching a decent side anywhere is better than watching a cr@p Huddersfield side in a soulless 25% full ground.
You will be aware that Mr Davy pumps loadsamoney in to keep Huddersfield afloat and unfortunately we dont have that luxury.
And getting back to lower prices = higher attendances, take a look at just how many they get through the turnstiles for their home games.
I know that not everyone can afford ST or be able to attend every game and that is a real shame for those that cant.
Even if you (or others) cant make all the games, the kids tickets are well worth getting, especially as they cover away games and then it's a case of picking and choosing which games you can make.
MC & CB have done a great job since we were in the mire a few years back and none of us want to go through that type of uncertainty again and I think you have to trust that they are getting it just about right.
Always worth looking into and suggesting ways that things could improve but, IMO, cheaper tickets would be a backward step.

Yeah the last game of the season was only £15 but it was a rearranged game to the Friday and it was on SKY which does affect attendances. If it had been played on the Sunday I'd have expected significantly more speccis attending.
