Tim cant stay at Salford as they have already done their budget which doesnt include him plus they are over their quota allocation so that also keeps him from staying with Salford. Also just hazarding a guess that Tim would prefer to stay with us as playing best rugby of his career. Salford cant force him elsewhere either so Tim and the club should be in a good position on this deal.

Maybe he's negotiating a severance package with Salford.

They can't force him to go elsewhere but they can offer him to someone who wants him and promises to treat him like we do for more money.

It would be foolish to think we are in the lead here. Has to be handled correctly to get the deal we want.

My guess is Webbo's looking at plan B is because plan A is far from cut and dried, firstly we cannot afford to buy him and although other clubs' will not want to buy him it may not stop them wanting him on the same sort of terms' as us and are prepared to pay more than we can, as much as Timmy wants to stay here if Koulcash has his business head on and not his sentimental head then there may be too many obstacles' to overcome.

Smith is one of my favourite players and I think it's important that we do everything we can to keep him.
But as with all things, he isn't irriplacable.

Plan B needs to be a good one of course.
I'd say Smith helps us carry a stand off that isn't the perfect fit. If we have to give up Smith we would need to half backs that fit really well. We don't want to be trying things out. We recruit with both roles in mind.

Saying that, I like Godinet as one of them already, so if no Smith, I'd find someone who compliments him.

I think you're right, people are assuming we are in the box seat because Salford are over their overseas quota and because Tim plays his best rugby with us. Whilst he can hold out from being sold to other clubs in the hope of being sold/allowed to come to Wakey, at the end of the day that could mean him missing out on playing the game he loves. If Koukash decided to play hardball with us and him, would he sacrifice his career just to try and get a move to Wakey??
