Quote: TFC "I hope the club are reading these boards as well as facebook and make a U turn.

Another thing that bugged me last night were some facebook wall posts from some supporters with messages of support for the appointment of Richard Agar, some of these messages were 'liked' by Wakefield Wildcats (this is the official one I'm talking about). Which doesn't fill me with hope, I'm guessing Richard Agar would not have left Hull without a job secured at another club. It sounds inevitable now, I'm just waiting for an announcement from the club then we will all have to get on with it.

However until then I still have hope that we have appointed someone else! I would actually rather have John Kear back than Agar, please James Elston you read these boards, we have been saying for weeks that we don't want Agar, make sure it doesn't happen.'"
You are correct, i spoke to him personally at our poty awards last night and he said he is fixed up with another coaching job already.

I don't understand the problem of McRea's appointment, in fact I think it's a fairly good appointment from Hull FC.

Quote: bren2k "Patronising ar5e.

Hull FC are the second team in our house - the wife's family are from there and her gramps and great gramps both played for them - but the condescending nature of the posts from some fans is getting tiresome.

A part of me hopes they've gazumped us and Cas for Mr Gentle with a massive offer, and he subsequently turns out to be more Matterson than Maguire.'"

I honestly think Rich Agar could be a good appointment for Wakefield. I believe he needed a change as much as FC did and a fresh start will do him good. Yes I'm sure you are getting sick of condescending posts from FC fans, but do you honestly think the expectation levels at Wakefield at this current time are the same as Hull FC's?

IMO you need someone to get you challenging for the playoffs again, and I reckon Agar could help you do that. Once you are there, get rid and kick on.

And I reiterate what I've said before, I respect your club and it's tradition and history. I'm just talking about the here and now.

as a hull fan, the wildcats are my 2nd team i hope agar does well for you if you get him, agar was on a hidding to nothing at hull the players he did bring through(proberly not enough) have or will go on to england games, omealy and fitz, moa were good signings long has been unlucky at hull. he signed sharp who looked a good player he lost his confidence and the idiots who sit behind me would shout and boo the guy as he warmed up on the touch line yet stood and cheered radford when he started hitting bailey of leeds and getting himself sent off 5 mins into the match, and made out he was a hero, we may get a good coach at hull but i hope he does not make a mistake or signs a player who gets an injury or some hull fans wont forgive him. as for our dor one of the thing he left us was a group of players who could play many roles in the team but didnt get the chance to make a role his own, sorry for long post but now agar is leaving i wish him the best and hope hull fans get behind the club and stop moaning.

Thanks for your opinion but sod off!!'"

For the record i was actually saying he might do well with you lot but seen as you reacted so badly i think we should do a comparison between Wakey and FC then we can see who is the biggest of the two clubs
Tell me please how many fans have you avaraged over the last five years?
Tell me what your grounds capacity is?
Tell me about what your club has achieved in its SL years?
Tell me how many shirts your club has sold this season.
Shall i go on?

None of the answers to the questions you pose make HFC a "big" club.

They confirm you as the biggest underachievers in SL. Well done you.

I never said Wakey were a bigger club, I said that you seem to believe your club is "bigger" than it's record says it is.

We have under achieved massively for years and with the ground, support, shirts sold, profit made etc should be doing a lot better than we have but some of thats been down to the board and the coaches they have employed who have not been able to handle running a club of our size. Agar going to a smaller club (which you are however much you argue you are not) could be the making of him. On the other hand he may just be as crap as he at been with us.

No-one said Wakey were a big club.

They pointed out your delusion at thinking you are a big club.

Wigan and Leeds are big clubs. Hull are not.

Let's not selectively pick a convenient snapshot in time when assessing what constitutes a big club!

Historically Wakefield Trinity is as big if not bigger and more famous than Hull FC.

Back on topic...........

Very true and I agree with the other Wakefield posters who say Hull are the biggest underachievers in SL.

But at this convenient snapshot in time, surely the most die hard Wildcats fan would admit the weight of expectation you will place on your next coach will not be as heavy as what Hull FC's current coach has had to endure from us lot.

That's why I believe Agar will thrive in a slightly less pressurised environment and why he could be good for you if appointed.

I see where you're coming from and if everyone was being objective I would agree with you. The board's aim is mid-table next year so they are not going to put the same pressure on as Agar's replacement will have. The trouble is
a) fan's are not that objective and often want more than can be realistically achieved
b) all other teams who have not performed well this year will be aiming for the same. Not everyone will succeed so to really get mid-table we will have to do a LOT better than this year
c) if there is not that amount of improvement then the "establishment" in RL will see us over-promising and under-delivering again, which will harden their attitude rather than changing it.
That means the pressure is really on.

Often when someone takes on a top job for the first time they fail to a greater or lesser extent and the good ones learn a lot from it, making a success of their second jobs. We wait to see if that learing has taken place or whether they follow the rule of "promotion to their level of incompetence".
