It looks like the media facilities are extending forward to the edge of the terracing as well.

| That will increase capacity as the area under the gantry will allow more fans.

| I can’t imagine they’ll build that without doing something about the terracing.
The works required to put that roof in place will further degrade the concrete that’s currently there and probably create dangerous trip hazards.

The terracing is ok imo just to low to pitch level. Looks like a one season wonder to me, surprised it even needs planning permission.
Good idea as at least the weather won’t put people off. I’m assuming they have sold out the north stand now, meaning the west is all that’s left.

You’re right, I’ve just read the planning details and it says no change to the existing terracing.
By the way theres and opportunity for the public to add comments supporting or objecting, I don’t suppose it would harm if people left their opinions on there.

I was involved at the time of demolition. The structure was riddled with wet rot and woodworm attack.
pulled down before it fell down.

| Been down to the ground this afternoon. The north-west corner in front of the tea hut and old big screen is almost unrecognisable. A great proportion of the terracing in front of the north stand has been excavated leaving a large exposed crater.

| If they add a roof and fill in the back, with tv gantry on top, I wonder how the media guys will get up there.
They'll have to make safe and secure access round the back.
It can't be dark uneven ground and shouldn't be through the crowd either.

On the plans it has an enclosed staircase access to the media room on top of roof.
It goes behind the cladding.
I had a nosey at all the drawings and it showed access.

| I'm not convinced about this design.
The TV gantry studio would sit right above the side of the pitch - the camera angle for the touchline would be abysmal.

| The front of the studio/gantry is proposed to be almost level with the pitch perimeter. It means that the camera would be looking down at a terrible angle.
The drawings show this clearly.
I'm sure we had to have previous gantry drawings signed off by Sky, so maybe they have/haven't seen these plans.

It'll be similar to Headingley before the south stand reconstruction. Effectively it will be looking down on the wing but not a disaster. I don't think this is the permanent solution given all the talk over the designs for the West Stand, merely doing something now to make that stand more comfortable for spectators for the short term

Can anyone enlighten me as to what all the 'plastic' pipes sticking up in the trench are for?
There seems to be a lot of them!
