Let’s be honest here the players we have lost have not weakened us in anything but depth.
Atkins
Kirmond

We’re all over the hill and hadn’t produced a good game in a long time. Truth be told we have better alternatives. No loss at all.
Koppy was marginally better but he didn’t stand up for me when we had all the injuries in the front row. Wasn’t overly impressed by him.
Gwaze no loss as barely played.
The only one I will give you as a loss is BJB.
As per the above we have lost some depth but only BJB in terms of quality not replaced by better or equal.
You say KR have strengthened. On paper they seem to have a much improved front row and forwards. However have you seen their backs and halfs? I don’t see much threat in that department.
The club have also invested in not just small but significant ballroom strengthening with Poching, last and the new physio/nutritionist. That could make a huge difference.
Plus players like batch/crowther/Jowitt a year older and looking like breaking through to regular good standard SL players.
There’s a lot to be positive about imho.
We literally only need 1/2 props and recruitment isn’t over just yet.
Honestly I’m looking forward to the new season.'"
To be fair koppy was good better than both green and tangata and atkins think we both can be right has before lockdown he was argubly one of the better players in the team but to be fair he didnt play after that.
I hope your right and we have a great year and if where 10 th or 11th ill be happy

SORRY IF I'VE MISSED ANYONE.
Get the extra prop, I don't see a problem. Not get the extra prop, still don't see much of a problem.
We used to get through longer seasons with fewer numbers and less quality than that and often did OK. If we are poor this season it's either the fault of the players/coaches or we've had yet another spectacular injury crisis. Let's stop making excuses and win something.'"
Bailey is at Gateshead for the season

I'd guess there is a recall if required, he's still a Trinity player. I assume it's the same with senior.

Yes but he's still our player, he's only on loan. Wasn't Walker there last season but re-joined us at the end of the season.
I can't imagine we'd recall him as it kind of ruins the point of a season-long loan but I suppose we could. I also assume Walker re-joined because effectively Gateshead stopped playing.
Anyway, a handy player to have around, even at Newcastle.

Definitely year long but you’d have to assume there is some flexibility.
I don’t want him recalled tbh, it should be the making of him.

There's definitely a recall option. I just hope he gets the same amount of game time now they're in the Championship as he would've in League 1. It's shaping up to be a competitive division, a year of playing at that level and he could really kick on.

It’s ideal for Bailey. He’s one of those odd players who’s position isn’t yet set. He could be a SO or a LF or even something else. He has the core skills and enough size and athleticism to be whatever he wants to be. He should find that at Newcastle.

Yeah I know what you mean, I think he'll start at 6 but can definitely see him as a ball playing 13. It'll do him more good than a year in the reserves would have.

Good post pal
The coaching situation is massive for us
I can’t recall a time when we’ve had half as much coaching experience
Poaching and last with Chester should be excellent
I see it the same way (although on hull kr Simms is an excellent signing for them)
We have replaced brough, which is excellent, lino could be a real find in a key position
We’ve lost bjb which isn’t good, he’s being such a consistent player for us ever since he came, I think Kaye is adequate but he won’t positively replaced BJB
Atkins n kirmond were here to cover in there final years and were squad players
The only area for concern is prop
We’ve lost koppy and naverette and batty
I am sure some one will turn up, we will certainly need it as soon as either Dave or Green are injured, the club have said they are looking so I am sure that will put it’s self right
I have a really good feeling about Brad walker and that he’ll have a real impact this season for us
I’d say we are in a similar position in terms of first team players but hopefully our half back pairing is finally sorted all be it our prop situation has gone backwards

You talk as if they’re going to smash the Superleague opposition to bits. If your that impressed you should go support them then so you can watch all these amazing players.

You say they have strengthened but as of now they are just names.
In theory in Fifita we have a player who is capable of being the best prop in SL if he can be bothered. Arona is hugely respected throughout SL. Yet for 18 month these players for different reasons have done nothing.
If these to come back on song you have two of the best forwards in SL and this applies to a lot of players at the club.
At least we know what we have, HKR have created a team from a catalogue, it might work it might not.
Worth noting that Simms is already in doubt due to a long term injury, see LE. Keep saying this but when players with big reputations are released from the NRL there is a reason. These players can no longer get a well paying gig in Oz, that’s why they are here, do you really think they have always wanted to sample the delights of Hull?
Your problem and you’re not alone is that the grass is always greener, you just see big names and bingo.
Look at Hurrell, Leeds fans can bull him up all they want but he’s nothing special. Every time we play them and these days we often win, he’s dominated by some skinny kid we picked up from Hull for nothing.
Unless you are in the Wally Lewis category then for me reputation means nothing. When you sign a player your just as likely to unearth a gem lurking in Wigan’s Academy than fresh from the NRL.
Personally I think HKR are taking a massive risk, if it weren’t for Smith track record I’d have them down for the wooden spoon. However you have to assume he knows his stuff so in theory they will do ok but theory is all it is.
Come back ten games in and then make a judgment, that’s when the real winners and losers start to emerge.
