although this is good news the only thing that bothers me is that the
announcement says creating world class facilities for CLUBS in the DISTRICT.shouldn't they just be saying CITY?????

It can be read the other way, e.g. when Ted is quoted as saying "this is very exciting for rugby league in the district" it arguably makes Wakey look the inclusive ones, where as Cas made it clear they were doing their own thing. In franchising terms we are the club willing to represent the whole area.
Equally using the term district opens us up to a wider catchment area. It equates Wakefield Trinity to being the representatives of Rugby for the whole area. In a similar vein positing the stadium on the edge of Wakefield, bordering Cas/Leeds territory isn't a bad idea, as it makes us the most local club in the border area. Obviously, we have to be sure Batley and Dewsbury don't encroach to the other side... |

I’m sure if it’s available to everyone, not just sports clubs, within the district then it will generate larger grants to help develop it. |

Wasnt there an hour ago when I visited theres tons of land round there most of it flat, about 10 houses which the building work might affect (i.e. noise ) same applies for match days, about 200yrds from motorway junction for me a perfect location. |

I know what you mean, I said the same when I read it.
Hear they way have a sports science college or something there so not only will it benefit Wakefield Trinity but also the wider community |

Been looking at the site on Google Maps; interestingly it looks equal distance from Cas town centre and Wakey city centre.

Me too mate and it actually appears that if Cas were relocating to that site they wouldn't be moving as far as Wakey...and traffic-wise could get there a lot quicker. On a positive note it would take us both in the opposite direction from Fev  |
