No comment on Steve McCormack......
Regards Northern Pride, you might be correct but would they be capable of beating Wigan, Sts, Warrington, Leeds etc..
They're at a lower standard than SL fact!
That said they've had or have a number of players who would be handy additions to most SL teams.
Sorry, just an oversight regard McCormack
I like McCormack, he's still relatively young and has lots of experience. He seems well liked by his players and has done well with some big characters in his capacity as Scotland Coach. His record at Club level is mainly in the lower Leagues with the exception being Salford where he struggled but who hasn't.
Maybe SL and Salford were too much too early for him but he's never been offered anything at that level since?

We could have done with him at FB, never mind as part of the coaching staff !
Although Richard Owen looked very good on Sunday

I didn't say Northern Pride would be a top Super League Team or compete with Wigan, Sts, Warrington, Leeds etc over the course of a season.
Trinity are at present are a Super League team and Northern Pride may well beat Trinity should they play each other with their current squads. JD is coaching at a comparable standard to Trinity's with players of similar ability and so may be a compelling candidate..

Not much long term succession planning going on there!'"
Although it falls under the umbrella of the Head Coach to bring the youngsters through, clubs like ours (perennial strugglers) will always be fighting for survival.
The Head Coach at Leeds, Wigan, Saints etc have the luxury of knowing that they will be competing in the top half of the comp whereas clubs like ours have to work on survival first and foremost and then see what's left.
It's not how it should be done but the necessity of staying in SL especially with ground issues etc. trumps all other requirements.
Licensing did take the pressure off this and we started to see some benefit with the likes of Walshaw and others coming through but, we then have to be able to compete to hold on to these players and inevitably most clubs have better spending power than Wakefield.
The return of promotion and relegation will see a return of the journeyman player merry-go-round and whilst there should be reward for the top club in the championship, the new system is not the answer (although as a Wakefield fan, I am pleased that we still have some chance of escaping the drop !).
Back to which coach we need, Kear would be my choice. So many of the others have massive amounts of risk attached to them.
Of course, there is no guarantee with Kear but he does have the right character and ability to keep us up (we hope)

| I'd agree Kear is the safest least controversial option.
Need a new conditioner though. As an additional thought on fitness of players as well remember Hickey Kear signed?

and Charlie Leano
In fairness, we spent less than sod all on players that season.

I don't care if we win, lose or draw as long as the team gives 100% every week and each player wears the shirt with pride.: |
|
| There's some good number 2s around, especially in Australia where some clubs have 2 Assistants.
Many coaches will see this as a perfect opportunity to put themselves in the shop window.
I think we will have some quality options to choose from.
I wonder if Nathan Brown, Daniel Anderson or Steve Price have applied?
