It's a pretty pansy punch but he does hit him. He squares up with a cocked first too.
Poore reaction was probably over the top but you shouldn't be treated worse just because he is abetter puncher.'"
Totally agree, punching is punching, you can't penalise a player more severely based on the results of the punch.

Sorry my friend, but Farrell clearly thrusts towards Poore's face with his hand/fist, what Poore did let his team mates down, but was understandable in the circumstances.
If he didn't "give" him anything, please explain the thrusting arm. What was the purpose of if?

| The elbow occurred in the tackle, which isn't shown. Farrell's "punch" isn't as bad as what I thought it was but still he does raise a fist and make contact with Poore. Bet he won't be messing around with Poore in the return fixture!

| Farrell went to push Poore away after Poore went after him, it looks like to me. Daft reaction, but I presume something happened in the tackle which started it, because Poore was going for him as soon as he was on his feet.
If a prop is going to be an enforcer and cop a ban, at least hit someone we don't like (Bailey, Tomkins, etc).

I think plenty will mess with Poore, he looks like something of a loose cannon. The beneficiaries were Wigan, and let's not forget Laim Farrell, who was announced as Man of the Match on the Tannoy.

He hardly connected with anything. Certainly not worthy of retaliating with a punch anyway. If Poore is going to get riled up by a little shove in the face, then he's probably going to get sent off in the majority of the matches he plays.
Fwiw, he did 2 runs in the game. The first run I commented at the time on his raised forearm as he took the ball in. He did the same in the tackle previous to his sending off, and something must've been said on the floor.

He thrusts 'towards' Poore with his hand but that's very different to a punch. It's just a bit of a push with a handful of shirt. It's not really an aggressive motion which is why Poore got the straight red. Good punch though.

| I'd rather see our players standing up for themselves, rather than letting people push them around! Oh and just to point out your 26 also went in throwing punches.....

You're right he didn't connect, but there's no guarantee that hs wouldn't follow it up with one that might is there in the heat of battle etc. These things take fractions of seconds, and there's no prize for standing there and taking a risk that the second one either won't come, or be a pathetic as the first.
I bet the Australian national side a bricking themselves now they've seen how tough guy Farrell hit the deck. He looks like he couldn't knock the skin off a rice pudding.

| Just to follow up. I have no issue if Poore gets a ban for this, personally I think having seen it again he's in a no win situation, he's struck first and wasn't hanging around for the second. However just because his shot was clean and quick shouldn't mean that he gets treated more harshly than Farrell and Crosby.
I remember Dallas Hood getting done for his part in a big brawl at Belle Vue. He was guilty but no more guilty than about 12 other players, but he was particularly effective during the scrap. Intent is intent.

Except he wasn't even punched in the first place, and the guy he was squaring up to is smaller than most outside backs.
And to be honest, unless we're taking on the Aussies in a fight, I wouldn't worry too much about how well he can take a punch. He's quite good at playing rugby if you hadn't noticed.

Exactly, he is provoked and then pushed - he was left no option but to establish bruise control. As you say, no issue if he gets a ban, but needs to reign in his temper or he will get targeted more and more.

I didn't realise that players were supposed to consult a height/weight chart before deciding whether to respond when under a physical attack. You clearly did not have the pleasure of seeing the diminutive Billy Conway in action, I know that Andy Dannett at the Boulevard didn't see him either.
