| I thought we played okay and was quite optimistic following it. I wasn't surprised by the result though because we rarely seemed to be in the Leeds half. Our efforts were mainly long range, which shows the other side is dominating the game. Our left edge is very dangerous but other teams will quickly train to snuff that out.
The new strip rule disappointed me, because clearly Leeds had been training to utilise it and we looked like we'd never heard of it.
On the whole, the game could have gone either way and I thought it was a fairly decent performance, but Leeds were the dominant team and deserved to win it.
As for the players, I think we'll go better with either Jowitt or Rocky at full back. Walker was fine but perhaps still a bit green and nervous and looks physically lightweight. Lino? Too early to tell. He has spent a long time as an understudy so was bound to be cautious. Once he gets used to being the focus, we should see the best of him. If we don't, he'll be an understudy to Rocky and that's just how it is.
As for the penalties, tired teams give away penalties. It was a sign of Leeds dominance and a natural consequence.
My main worry about this year is that I think there may be some levelling out of the teams. Salford may be poor in the end, bit of a Dads Army, but Hull KR may go better and Huddersfield should get better. I can see us scrapping it out for tenth. But new ground, new start, etc.
