| Quote: The Avenger "Well as in my first post, I think Toulouse are ahead of us using the criteria but I think we are best placed to actually do the job but I guess we’d get asked and have the opportunity to say no if we felt we were being sent like lambs to the slaughter. The extra money from SL would be an incentive as would the more exciting fixture list and possibly higher numbers of visiting fans, hospitality sales and sponsorships that come with playing in the top division.
I agree we’d have to bring in some top quality players but we’re not being coached by a novice who’s out of his depth anymore.'"
One or two people within the game are questioning how Tolouse got such an high rating compared to London as they seem extremely evenly matched in every IMG criteria. People are also saying there has been no auditing or verification of any sort regarding clubs information that was provided to IMG.
Clubs other than Salford have already started to feel the financial pinch of reduced funding. I dont think there would be an appetite to see Tolouse join them due to lack of support and further travel costs. Every penny seems to count nowadays.

| London have just released a kit without a sponsor. Anyone know why? Seems a bit strange when part of the IMG criteria is to increase sponsorship.

Salford aren't experiencing the pinch of reduced funding. They are feeling the impending swoop of the Grim Reaper from spending money they have never had.
It's not something that's "happening" to them, it's something they have created.
They aren't victims.

| With regards to more players I think we may a couple more lined up and then keep looking for any other right ones. Powell did say in one of his interviews that with season not starting until mid March it gives them a bit more time

The playing season will start in Feb with the 1895 cup, its the league that's not starting until mid March

IMG have made their opinion of London pretty clear, hence London not over committing this season- they know where they are in 2025 hence why they have kept a good number of part timers

| Are there some similarities with Everton and the demoted clubs (Leeds, Leicester etc)? I know it's not a salary cap issue, but if Salford would have paid the rent etc then maybe they would have had a far less able team and this gave them a false advantage at avoiding any chance of relegation? Don't get me wrong, I'm very much looking forward to a year in the championship etc but technically it hasn't been a truly level playing field has it?

| More like similarities with Bradford Bulls IMO...they stuck their head in the sand and didn't pay their bills either and look what happened there

The RFL had said that the 1895 cup would begin 27/28 January. Is this not correct ?

London and Toulouse both played the entire regular season in the Championship without a main jersey sponsor (for instance as you can see here at the Summer Bash).

I mentioned this a couple of times on forums but nobody seemed especially interested, I thought it was quite a significant story. They both belatedly got a main jersey sponsor for the play-offs.
London in particular have been a basket case off the field for quite a few years now. They've alienated a huge chunk of what wasn't a particulalrly large fan base as a result.
